When we were choosing a daycare, we were very excited about Sholom Daycare. We saw many wonderful photos on their social media (Instagram) featuring beautiful holidays, kosher celebrations, full tables on Thanksgiving, and national dancing with Alessandra from the OT Dance Studio.
However, our experience was overshadowed by the director, Yana. We still donât know her real last name because she introduced herself as Abramov, but in the Department of Education, she is known as Yana Burg. Now that we have explored different locations, we can compare our experience at Yana-Sholom with others. From the beginning, Yana provided us with a list of 30 school supplies that cost us around $200. Our current daycare did not ask us for anything like that. Each week, we were expected to buy and bring items such as fall decorations, holiday costumes, pumpkins, extra tissues, and artificial snacks from Yanaâs list for the group. This expectation never stopped.
Whenever parents had questions about what was happening in the daycare, Yana responded aggressively, often blaming the parents or the children. We never received answers to our questions, which were simply inquiries, not complaints. The toys and furniture were very old. For holidays, we received a list of items we were expected to buy, including food, which was often cheap and unhealthy. Yana-Sholom does not provide anything, despite how nice it looks at other Sholom locations.
The only positive aspect of this place is the animals and gymnastics, which are provided by the main office for only 15-30 minutes a week. While the main office does provide kosher food. But inside Yana's location no body controls it. And you can see dairy snack-desserts on table after meat lunch. Or raspberries/blackberries from parents, that nobody checked.
If you visit the Department of Education's site, you can see the daycare's rating, which is not bad. However, the rating of the principal and parents' trust in her have been decreased each year.
I can recommend Sholom Daycare, but not at this location. Yana seems more focused on making money rather than caring for the children. She is rude to both parents and kids, and our child has shared troubling experiences with her. If she cannot be nice to adults, how can she be good with little ones?
It seems that Yana is more interested in extracting money from parents and the city through unnecessary programs, rather than providing quality care. If you notice any issues or if your child expresses concerns, please take...

From the moment you walk in, youâre greeted by a warm and nurturing environment that feels like a second home. The staff at Sholom are exceptional. They are not only highly qualified but also genuinely caring and attentive to each childâs needs. My child has blossomed under their guidance, showing remarkable progress in social skills and learning. The teachers are fantastic at communicating with parents, providing regular updates and always being available to discuss any concerns. The facility itself is bright, clean, and filled with a variety of educational and fun toys and activities. They have a great outdoor play area that the children absolutely love. What impresses me most is their curriculum, which is thoughtfully designed to encourage holistic development, blending academic learning with creative play, and social interaction. Moreover, Sholom Daycare is great at celebrating diversity and inclusivity, making every child and family feel welcome and valued. Sholom Daycare is a place where children thrive, learn, and are genuinely cared for. As a parent, I couldnât ask for a better place to leave my child while Iâm at work. I highly recommend Sholom Daycare to any parent looking for...
Read moreNothing more important for any parent then the peace of mind that their child is in the best of care during the day while they are busy at work. Sholom Daycare has been a blessing to our family. This facility is truly an example for how a caring & efficient facility should operate. One whose focus is on education and keeping the kids engaged with dedicated educators. This is all possible because of the extraordinary Director Mrs. Yana who runs this daycare like these are all her children. Exuding so much love, patience and strict guidelines for a structured environment that allows for our children to blossom leaving the parents at peace. We have numerous family members whose children attend Shalom Daycare and we all share the same gratitude. Very impressed you won't be disappointed. Truly the BEST option especially...
