There's definitely some New York City DWCP laws being violated by the seafood department here. Per the NYC DWCP website: In New York City, businesses selling goods by weight, like food, are required to deduct the weight of the packaging (tare weight) from the total weight to ensure customers pay only for the product. This is part of New York State and New York City's Weights and Measures laws enforced by the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP). Tare Weight: This is the weight of the packaging or container that holds the food. For example, the weight of the plastic container holding deli meat. Net Weight: This is the actual weight of the food being sold, after the tare weight has been subtracted. Legal Requirement: Businesses must ensure scales are accurate and display the net weight of the product to the customer, and they must take into account the tare weight. Consumer Rights: Customers have the right to see the scale and ensure it is displaying the correct weight, with a zero or minus sign indicating the tare weight has been deducted. I bought three lobsters here at $12/pound. The seafood counter person took them out of the lobster tank dripping water, placed them into a large, heavy, brown paper bag (see similar photo I borrowed from another reviewer who had a similar experience - I discarded my bag upon returning home) and then into another large plastic bag. I asked the fishmonger politely if he could pour out the large amount of excess water ($12/pound for water is silly). He became extremely irate and said that lobster is composed primarily of water and therefore would not pour the water out of the bag. At that point, I didn't even endeavor to explain NYC packaging tare weight laws to him. Paid for my lobster, water and packaging and left. Fully understand that it's not easy to make profit in NYC, but sad that this market needed to resort to breaking the law to do so. Unfortunately this isn't the first time this has happened here, but this was the first time I decided to ask the seafood counter person about it. If selling seafood isn't profitable, it's not necessary to deceive customers, just charge more to cover your expenses or please, just don't sell it.

BS +++ Hmart wannabe? Or Ktown market OG. This place has it all and cheaper than most spots I've been in. Very clean and organized. Huge parking lot and very stocked. Highly recommended. Boomsauce Scale: BW - basura (trash) BS - basic (come on! Try harder) BS + - better (Yo! That's better) BS ++ - best (alright! Alright! Alrightttt!) BS +++ - Amazing location! now that's boomsauce!

One staff who can't speak English with a nasty attitude sold dead crabs to us.There's very little meat but a lot of seawater inside the dead crabs he sold us. The reason he forbid us from picking the crabs ourselves is that he wanted to handpick the dead crabs to rip us off.

I came by during their opening week (forgot if it was day one or day two) and was pleasantly surprised at the variety of goods available considering the marketplace was not as large as the other Asian grocery markets in town. Not only did they make the most use of their space, they offer enough of everything to become the go to local grocery store. They carry Chinese, Filipino, Japanese and Korean brands all throughout the store. And there is even one single aisle of American goods (think jams, canned goods, cereal and snacks). There are rows and rows of fresh vegetables so they carry plenty of variety. Fresh fruit, a butcher and live seafood section is available in the rear of the store. There's an ample frozen goods section as well where I found a very special item this visit, the "Zhong Zi" or "Leaf wrapped rice dumplings" - made by a popular brand. Now I don't have to trek to Flushing to find it. There are a few workers manning the butcher and seafood stations so the lines move quick. I believe there were about six registers to check out so those lines move fast as well. The market is very new and very clean...hopefully it will benefit the community and vice versa. Plenty of parking since it is part of the Little Neck...

Store is small but clean. Vegetables and fruits are fresh. Meats are usually good although I did experience bad grounded pork a couple of times. They package the meat in bags so you really don't know until you get home when the smell of bad meat hits you. Seafood, unless is live, are not fresh at all so stay away. Workers are mostly friendly and try (most don't speak English) to help you. Shoppers should avoid the chunky cashier in the middle with the short hair. It seems that her hair is dyed a different color almost every week. She used to work in the other Asian supermarket (New York Mart) on Horace Harding. She is really RUDE and with a BAD Attitude. As other reviewers noted she throws your bagged groceries at you after she scans them. I often see her yell at non Asian customers. She needs customer...
