I recently gave a good review to this doctor's office but was I wrong. The office charged me for an ekg which was never performed. I think they sent me to collections because of this as I will find out in today's mail. I contacted the billing department to tell them that the ekg was never performed and no one got back to me. I got a bill for the visit which I paid for the office visit but not the ekg as broken out by eob statement and the billing office claimed they never got that payment. I supplied the receipt and still no response. I had chest issues back in March 2020 so I told this doctors office which is why the ekg should have been done. At the end of the appointment I asked Nancy Nieves is that it aand she said yes without performing the ekg but referred me to their partnering cardiologist. I went to the cardiologist appointment as this was before the charged me illegally for an ekg and at the appointment explained my chest issue the doctor there listened to my heart and then said normal wrote a referral appointment for a stress test. I said stress test he said yes. The next he told me he was taking a sonogram later to be billed and when I called the insurance company it was an echocardiogram. When he took pictures my appointment was over. I walked back to his office and asked us that it and he said yes. There was absolutely no discussion of the findings of the echocardiogram even when I asked is that it. I since cancelled the stress test and was harassed by the office for my new insurance information to keep the test. It doesn't stop there my appointment with the cardiologist was the 28th and when I got the bill it was dated the 29th because they needed preapproval for the echocardiogram and switched my service date to the 29th so that the insurance will pay. All in all Nancy Nieves is not a doctor she is a nurse practitioner nor was I ever seen by a doctor and the offices are only interested in collecting money from the insurance company instead of caring for their patients. I was ripped off. Also my follow up to get results from Nancy Nieves was supposed to be a phone call at 4:05p. I got a call all the way at 6:30p and was billed to the insurance $180 for an office visit with yet another deductible. Again interested in only collecting money. She said I was supposed to follow up why when I checked my online account no lab results posted to verify and an appointment was scheduled without telling me. They scheduled a follow up for my partner without telling him and said they sent a rx to a pharmacy. He never gave them a pharmacy that he uses and they said Walgreens. Which Walgreens to this day is a wonder since we called the Walgreens near us and they did database search in the country and there was no rx in his name. You tell me that this office is not a sham taking advantage of brown and black people who...
Read moreI did not have to wait long. The staff was friendly. However I was charged for an EKG that was never performed. After submitting to the insurance company and not after calling the office to complain was this corrected. I paid twice for services. During the EKG mishap I was billed for a followup visit combined with what I paid already and submitted a receipt online that I paid but still billed for the amount. I had to pay for the follow and it was not separated so ended up paying twice. This office referred me to the cardiologist which I had complained to the Nurse Practioner that saw me that I had chest tightness in March which I was told by CityMD that it was an upper respiratory infection. Concerned I wanted to followup and saw the cardiologist which sent me for a stress test after a convo , took a echocardiogram and didn't bother to discuss the results even after when I asked is that it. The offices claim they are not affiliated but are both NY Family Docs and the person who saw me had my file from next door when I had a doctor's visit as the file had a copy of my id and insurance information which was not taken when I checked in with the front desk at the cardiologist. Also my followup was a phone call that was supposed to take place at 4:05p I believe and never got a call from the Nurse Practiner not the doctor until 6p yet was charged as an office visit. No lab results were posted in the online portal and only when I checked an appointment was scheduled for me without me even making one or told that an appointment would be made for me. All in all this office takes advantage of black and brown people who are the majority of patients. Interested in collecting...
Read moreI was the only one in the waiting room when I came here and waited 15 minutes to be seen which isn't a huge deal, but it's worth noting.
Also, while the women at the front desk were not unkind to me, I did feel like it was pretty unprofessional for them to talk as loud as they were to each other. One non-black woman even said the N-word while describing a story to another co-worker. I just felt like that was really strange and felt a bit uncomfortable.
The appointment itself was fine, although my time with my PCP seemed kind of rushed. Like seriously, it was less than 4 minutes long and she asked if I needed referrals to anyone after my check up. Like I don't know??? I wanted to bring up some issues I had that might have warranted a referral, but before I knew it, she was saying goodbye. She was really nice, I just don't feel like I benefited at all from going there and getting my first checkup there in 5 years because nothing was really even checked? She looked in my mouth and my ears, and listened to my heartbeat and that was seriously it. Someone else checked my blood pressure before my PCP saw me and gave me the readings, but nobody even commented on what the interpretation of the results were. I had to google the numbers after I left and was like... wait... I have hypertension?
I only ever got contacted after my blood results came back and she told me my cholesterol was a bit high and I should try exercising and eating healthier and less fried food, etc. But my high blood pressure was never mentioned which was odd.
I don't even have health insurance anymore, so I can't even say for sure whether or not I'll ever...
