This was a bucket list item. I have always, ALWAYS wanted to take a guided carriage ride through Central Park, but I always felt silly doing it when I was an actual resident of NYC. Fast forward almost 10 years later, and taking my 8-year-old twins to Central Park for the first time in their young lives provided the perfect opportunity to do it.

Our guide was Toby and our horse was Leo, and they were both fabulous!!! Toby was SO sweet and knowledgeable and kind to our whole family. He showed us where they filmed all the iconic movies in the park and took so many amazing picture of us in the carriage, at Bethesda Fountains, in front of the San Remo, feeding Leo, etc. He was an excellent photographer, and we will probably use one of the photos for our holiday card!

We signed up for the 45-minute ride, which provided two stops and a really expansive tour of the park. It was the perfect amount of time. Toby was such a gentleman and made our kids feel so comfortable (especially my one daughter who is scared of horses - she ended up petting Leo at the end because Toby made her feel so at ease!) Even my very skeptical husband said the tour was wonderful and well worth the money!

It was not cheesy or touristy at all - it was just classic and perfect. I will definitely do it again one day. We got a winter discount (even though it was March) and $130 (plus a nice, well-deserved tip) for four people was well worth the money,...

When my family and I traveled to New York City for a week’s vacation, they knew the one thing I truly wanted to do was take a horse-drawn carriage ride through Central Park (yep, I wanted to feel like a princess for the day). Jesus and his horse made my wish come true. Our hour long ride was relaxing, entertaining, and informative. Jesus shared cool facts about places around the park where certain movies, tv shows, or events had taken place, as well as historical facts about the park and NYC. We stopped at different places to take pictures and our son got to feed the horse its carrots at each stop as well as after our ride was over. Jesus was able to answer all of our questions we had during the ride. He was super personable and made our experience memorable. He even made an extra quick stop for my husband to run in and use the restroom at one of the locations within the park. Our horse (whose name was either Moonlight or Moonstruck) was very well-trained, and you could tell she was loved. If you are unsure about which company to choose, since there are many out there, I highly recommend NYC Horse Carriage Rides. From purchasing the tickets online, to meeting at the pickup spot, having a nicely decorated carriage, and making sure we were comfortable at all times, they did a wonderful job. Thank you Jesus, Moonlight, and NYC Horse Carriage Rides (est. 1979) for making our...

Horse drawn carriage ride in Central Park

Mr Josh our horse carriage driver was ready for us when we met him a good 15 minutes early for the first ride of the day. Sir Bush our nice horse a Percheron breed was raring to go. After exchanging greetings and confirming our names, we were seated on the spacious carriage and underway to our 60 minutes ride through Central park.

Josh who said he majored in theater and minored in history was pointing out the buildings, statues and other landmark both inside and out the park. He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his job. We first went up a small hill where a trough of water is, for Sir Bush to drink his fill and then we set off.

At some of the important landmarks, Josh stopped his carriage and took our pictures. During one such stop, he offered us carrots to feed the horse. Sir Bush was nicely behaved and ate up 3 of them while the 4th one was getting dropped more then thrice. For some unknown reason, I packed an extra bottle of water and it came handy to wash off the horse saliva from our hands and Josh offered some sanitizer for the hands.

After completing the course, Josh brought us back to the place of origin. We tipped him a generous $41 and he was very...

As this was booked, in advance online, as a highlight point of our trip, the iconic Horse & Carriage ride around Central Park on Christmas Day, I put in loads of research to choose the right company and we weren't disappointed. I'd contacted the company a few times before our trip and always had a speedy accommodating response. We ensured we arrived early to make sure we knew where to find our carriage, even though the instructions were spot on and Frank was there with his Horse Bazooka. He told us if we had nothing to do we could start the ride right away, so we did. It was a chilly morning and we were furnished with a blanket to keep the cold out. Frank was an attentive guide asking about ourselves while slipping in loads of facts about the sights as we went, he was a fountain of knowledge regarding the Park and the surrounding buildings. We stopped off at the Bethesda Terrace and the Cherry Hill Fountain for photos and Frank was only too willing to help take them. Everything ran to schedule and was professionally done through many years of experience I would definitely recommend this company.
