I have been a regular shopper at Patel Brother, an Indian grocery store in my vicinity, offers a wide range of essential grocery items that cater to the needs of the South Asian community. From various lentils and spices to specialty items like pickles and snacks, their selection is extensive and diverse, making it a go-to store for all things South Asian.
One of the highlights of shopping at Patel Brother is the availability of an array of fresh green vegetables. I was pleased to find a well-stocked produce section featuring a variety of traditional South Asian vegetables. From okra to bitter gourd, the store ensured that customers have access to the necessary ingredients for their culinary endeavors.
The store staff at Patel Brother are generally friendly, although their level of service is average at best. While they are willing to assist customers and point them in the right direction, their engagement could be more enthusiastic and attentive. However, their demeanor did not significantly affect my overall shopping experience.
In terms of pricing, Patel Brother falls within the average range for an Indian grocery store. While some items might be slightly more expensive than other stores, the overall pricing is reasonable considering the wide variety and availability of products.
One aspect where Patel Brother falls short is in the management of cleanliness and hygiene. While the store is generally organized, more effort needs to be invested in maintaining a cleaner and more hygienic environment. Focusing on regular cleaning routines and improving overall hygiene protocols would greatly enhance the shopping experience.
Overall, Patel Brother is a valuable resource for the South Asian community, offering a wide range of grocery items and a good selection of green vegetables. While the staff's friendliness is average and the management could do more to improve cleanliness and hygiene, this store still remains a convenient option for those looking to fulfill their South Asian...

Read moreAn Indian would feel at home shopping at Patel Brothers in Jackson Heights. This is a large supermarket with branches all over America. Fresh vegetables like bhindi (okra) from California that is similar to the ones available in India, to kari patha (curry leaves), eggplants, green long beans to name a few. Refrigerated and frozen foods (think paneer, khoya, assorted rotis, frozen entrees) are sold. Let’s not forget dessert! Indian ice creams like the famous Vadilal is here along with frozen packages of rasmaiai. Parle Glucose biscuits are also here and famous in India perfect with a cup of hot chai. During the summer months mangoes from India are flown in for about six weeks and sold by the box. Granted they are exorbitant at $40 a box but a taste of home is here. Other mangoes from the Dominican Republic and Haiti are just as delicious and a lot cheaper at $8-$10 a box. I have bought both several times to eat and share. Do you have a large family? Then the enormous amounts of rice and wheat sold in huge gunny bags are for you. Spices, teas, coffees, lotions and potions and the ubiquitous coconut oil for the hair are also available. Both cash and credit cards are accepted with a slight discount when paying with cash. Patel Brothers is open seven days of the week and is well known in the South Asian community. I go there as often as I can. Worth...
