I have always had bad teeth growing up and have been to MANY dental practices in the Flushing area. Honestly I never had a great experience and always dreaded going to the dentist’s - until I came here. First of all, everyone in this office is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, diligent and professional. Every time I walk in, I am greeted right away and ushered into the room where I am seen/treated within 1-2 minutes. They answer every single question I have with patience. After I leave the office, there is always some kind of follow up via email or phone. The staff even went out of their way to call my new insurance and let me know when my account became activated, along with accurate copay information. They made that process so extremely easy for me when it could’ve been a stressful one. The treatment itself is what impressed me the most. I have gotten a root canal, and at least a dozen cavity fillings and scaling procedures done in my life. I came in with a very deep, bad cavity. I was tense going into the room, but Dr. Hwang and his staff made me feel SO comfortable. They are so extremely gentle with your gums/teeth and you can tell how considerate they are of you from the way the procedures are done. They make sure to explain every step so there are no surprises. In the past, I have always felt some nerve pain even after being numbed and even the numbing itself has been a painful experience. But from the scaling, numbing, drilling my teeth, and inserting the filling, I didn’t feel a single thing. The numbing was so well localized to the area of the affected tooth. I heard the drill, but didn’t feel it! The staff also made sure that I never had any fluid/water welling up in my mouth during the procedure. At the end of it, I didn’t have much to spit out, while I am used to spitting out a lot of blood afterwards at other practices. Overall, I felt that each procedure was very carefully and meticulously done here. Immediately afterwards, Dr. Hwang already had a picture of my new filled tooth and explained aftercare and next steps. Everything was so seamless from beginning to end. I had SUCH a pleasant experience and l left feeling like I wouldn’t mind going to the dentist’s if they were all like this. I will only be coming to this practice for all of my dental care going forward. Thank you, Dr....
Read moreJust wanted to update my review from 6 years ago. I am still with Hwang Dental. As a kid who constantly feared going to the dentist, Hwang Dental makes the trip so much less anxiety-inducing. The cleanings are painless but thorough (ever finish a cleaning and feel like they took a knife made of water to your gums? doesn't happen here!). I typically show up early and never have to wait more than a few minutes to be seen. Staff still friendly as ever. At this point it's almost like visiting family, and I think having that kind of relationship with a healthcare provider helps alleviate some of that anxiety. *edited 11/16/24
Hwang Dental was recommended to me by my friend and neighbor when I was looking for a new dentist. Honestly, I have no complaints and nothing but praise for Dr. Hwang and his staff. I have been with Hwang Dental for... I think two years now.
The location is convenient to me, as I can just take the Q44 down Main st. and it stops right in front of the stop. Parking isn't difficult either as the area is mostly residential. The office itself is clean and equipped with modern equipment (even have TVs mounted on the ceilings so you're not bored waiting while you're staring up). The waiting room also has refreshments like bottled water/juice/tea/coffee available, which I think is convenient and mindful of patients, especially in this hot weather.
Checkups and cleanings are painless and efficiently performed. I also did something similar to Invisalign (think it's called ClearCorrect?) with Dr. Hwang and I'm happy with my straight teeth.
Dr. Hwang personally gave me a follow-up call after I had the first set of retainers fit in, and I heard similar experiences with my friend who went through some oral surgery with him. He tries to make himself available as much as possible to his patients, and it's a touch of hospitality that unfortunately, is lacking in today's healthcare services. His staff are always polite and friendly, and scheduling is as...
Read moreI had been going to Manhattan dentists for well over a decade and decided a switch was needed when a root canal had gone bad. Two separate attempts with different dentists in the city, neither able to address the sharp pain. I was referred to Dr. Hwang by a family friend and just with an initial visit, he was able to assess the core issue and successfully removed the pain.
Dr. Hwang has a calm temperament and his patience to explain in detail treatment options is a great quality I value in any health practitioner. His supporting team - front office, technicians and hygienist - have all been pleasant and professional. I appreciate the office is prompt to return calls and able to fit in appointments when an urgent need arises (e.g., when my tooth chipped on vacation, they fit me right in the day I arrived).
He follows up post treatment, which is so great and not something I experienced with any other dentists. Routine cleanings are just that - hygiene focused and not some opportunity to fit in unnecessary treatments (e.g., in the past dentists have always done scaling).
The practice is very clean and welcoming (very important when you have children as I do). The 7 train is convenient to get to and just a short distance to walk, you also have the bus option (if not driving, and if driving they have parking!)
When deciding on a pediatric dentist for my kids, we decided to take them to Dr. Hwang and we started at the age of 1.5 yr old. The positive experience he's been able to give my children has not only reinforced a strong dental health routine at home for them, but also the kids just love going to see the dentist. My husband has also switched from his city dentist shortly after I and we both share in the positive experience we've had with...
