I've stayed at this hotel with my partner multiple times. We keep coming back because we find the rooms to be clean and beautiful. The location is decent, you still need to walk around 10 mins Main St. We mostly Uber to Murray Hill for food anyways.
However, I will not be returning because for the absolute horrible customer service of the receptionist and front desk. Every time I make a reservation, I called to confirm the reservation and check if there are any availabilities for upgrade, early check in, and early check out, as I am a Platinum Elite member. I totally understand if there isn't and typically they won't know until the day of reservation. 100% Understandable. However, the representative is always have an attitude. It is usually some form of "I don't know. You have call back later." I also got cut off mid sentence rudely when someone came up to the front desk. I was mid sentence when the receptionist said "Just hold."
Now for in-person experience: I arrived to my check in and politely asked if there was an upgrade available , to which they said no. I asked for a late check out, to which they said no. Moving forward, my partner called for some dental kit, to which they told him they had none. I was not aware of this, as I was at the gym, and as I came back up from the gym, I decided to pick up some dental kits, towels, and water. If they ran out, why was I provided some at the front.
We also decided to stay in and ordered delivery. We expected the front desk to bring it up, but they didn't. Which was totally fine, but we didn't get a call that we had an order. Again, minor issue , but def ruins the experience a bit. I saw the notification 20 mins later that our food been delivered, I called front desk if they had my order - they said " I don't know. There's an order here, but I don't know if it's yours." I asked if he can bring it up, he said "no." I said can he check if it has our room num on it, to confirm it's ours. He said he can't because he is busy. I understood and went to pick up the order. He was on his phone when I got down there, just scrolling. The order right in front of him.
There was also the instance, where we stayed to celebrate my partner's birthday. Typically, there is some sort of gesture for guest celebrating. However, we received none. Nor did we receive any acknowledgement.
The last blow that really got me not wanting to stay was the way they made me and my partner felt so uncomfortable. I won't say it was homophobia, because it could be a million other reason. However, I noticed they stared at us a lot while we were in the lobby. They would often have a sly smile after we turn our back. I've caught it a couple of times, as we walk past reception and I turn back to ask for help or grab something from the pantry.
Overall, beautiful space with unpleasant...

Read moreI travel pretty often and this may be one of my favorite hotels ever. The room was spacious, clean, and modern; the bed was pure Heaven and it was hard to get up in the morning! The complimentary water bottles in the room were a nice touch, and the bathroom was fabulous!! I also asked where I could get a bottle of cheap champagne for mimosas, only to be lead to a fabulous wine store that is basically next to the lobby! Their staff was awesome as well.
For anyone unfamiliar with NYC/Queens; I can't recommend it enough to stay here. I have visited NYC several times and this is a gem! A lot of tourists tend to go for Times Sq etc but... As stated, the room is huge and not something you'd find in Manhattan, maybe the Ritz and def not at this rate. It was quiet, even being so close to LGA, peaceful at night and just felt safe. The LIRR and subway are very close to the hotel; you can get anywhere for $7.75 or less. (That's what it cost me to take the LIRR to Penn to catch my Amtrak home.)
NOW let me rave on the staff!! I started out my stay by having Rey pick me up at LGA on the hotel shuttle. I was the only guest on the shuttle at the time. He was instantly warm, friendly and kind...always appreciated by a solo female traveler. He played a bday song for me and asked what I wanted to see first. I explained that I had recently been in an accident and was just now able to eat solid food, so of course I wanted a BECSPK roll from a bodega!! He told me about his favorite spot (Danny's, which I ate at for every meal during my stay) and even pulled over on the way to the hotel so I could grab one. Amazing!!!
Also-I'll leave another positive review for Jessica; she was helpful, friendly, and calmed me down when I was frazzled over card issues. She also gave me simple to navigate subway routes and I truly believe she helped make my visit perfect and easy. Take the 7 into the city and you’re golden. I mentioned that it was my birthday, and she and all of her colleagues made sure to call me birthday girl during my stay. If that wasn't enough, I heard a knock on my door and opened it to Jessica with 2 bday balloons!!! She said "this is from us at the front desk, and Rey" This meant a lot to me, as I was clearly spending this day alone. Above and beyond doesn't even convey how amazing they were. You made my birthday, thank you so much Sheraton Flushing staff! I genuinely look forward to returning!
I have to add that I'm a Hilton Diamond member of many years, but they have gone downhill; this is the second Marriott I've stayed at, as just some regular guest, and they treated me like a queen both times-while Hilton couldn't care less about my loyalty. Marriott agents seem to be happy with their careers and I support that as a former hospitality agent myself I have officially...
