HOUSEKEEPING STOLE MY PROPERTY !!!I rented a room for 3 nights. After I returned on the second day i noticed my bed was spread up. I thought nothing of it until i realized my medication and glasses were missing and my soap was in the garbage. I called the front desk and my glasses and medication were no where to be found so the front desk attendant had to call housekeeping. I waited then called back the front desk and housekeeping still had not called back as yet. Some time after, there was a knock at my door and it was the front desk guy with my medicine and glasses. I took the itwms and thought nothing of it until thw following day when i had to use my medicine. To my surprise the single use medicine was discharged and no longer usable. I could have passed this off as a simple mistake but there were two things that just didn't sit right with me. First off whenever housekeeping finds item so left behind in a room it should be given to the manager on duty who should put it up in a safe place in the event that the guest returns for their item. The fact that the manager had to call the housekeeper as he was not able to locate my items shows that potentially my items were removed from the property. Second thing is if a person finds medicine belonging to someone else why would they go to the process of discharging the medicine from its container? Usually when I go to a hotel room I would put up the do not disturb sign as this is one of the reasons why I do not like to have housekeepers in my room to clean it when I'm not there. People may want to argue and say that my items were returned so they were not stolen but in my opinion if my items were removed from my room and they did not remain on the property that is what I would call stealing. From now on I will make sure to travel with my personal do not disturb sign to ensure that no housekeeper ever comes in my room when I'm not there. When i left for the day, i did take my computer and clothes but my medicine required refrigeration so i left it in the refrigerator. My glasses i just forgot on the table but had intended to take it. Another thing that did not sit right with me was the fact that one person at the front desk told me each room is cleaned everyday but the other person told me that rooms are only cleaned upon request and went against checks out. It was easy for the front desk person to see that I would have been staying in my room for three nights. When you stay at a two and a half star hotel you're not really asking for much besides a clean bed to sleep on. Having your items removed from your room is not even acceptable for a one-star hotel and unfortunately Grandview hotel is a...
Read moreI decided to stay at this hotel for a quick weekend away with my significant other. It was a convenient decision as I live in the neighboring town and I was able to find a good deal for it through a discount site. I stayed in one of their standard rooms with one queen bed. The hotel itself is quite small, so king size beds are not offered, if that’s your thing. My room was located in the front of the hotel and overlooked the street below. Even though the expressway is about 100 meters away, you really cannot hear it and the neighborhood is quiet, so if you’re looking to get a good night’s sleep, you will be able to do so. There was a bit of a commotion from the housekeeping staff that were cleaning out the other rooms on the floor in the morning, but it was nothing obnoxious. The rooms are built well enough that it can drown out some sound. However, I’m also not one to be sensitive to sounds as I am easily able to tune out sounds.
Like I mentioned, the hotel is small so the rooms are small themselves. There is just enough room for a bed, a small desk that holds a flat screen TV and houses a compact mini fridge, a tall wardrobe closet, and a decently sized private bathroom. There is also a safe and in-room air conditioner. Although small, the room was incredibly clean and overall, quaint and comfortable. There is one elevator for the building and there is a microwave and Keurig machine in the lobby for public use. Their front desk/reception staff seems to only be two people. I would go in with a light-hearted attitude as they are Flushing locals and yes, accents are to be expected. Staff was nice and accommodating.
Grandview is located in a very convenient location. It is a quick 15-minute drive away by car or taxi to LaGuardia Airport. Just around the corner is the Whitestone Expressway Plaza where there is a 24-hour diner, multiple large-chain eateries, a pizzeria, a large-chain supermarket, and clothing outlets as well. If you go a little further, there are bowling lanes and a movie theater. If you’re coming into town to catch a baseball game at Citifield, this would also be a great place to consider as well.
This is not a luxury hotel. What it is is a convenient hotel that is seemingly geared towards travelers and people looking to get...
Read moreLet me start by saying that I am very easy-going. I was looking for a clean and safe stay while I was in town for a music festival in Queens. Did not expect much. Just a clean room with a bed and shower. However, this was absolutely the worst hotel stay I've ever experienced in my life. My partner and I arrived on the first night and the front desk person stated that there was no more rooms available, and was able to accomodate us at another hotel location. Mind you, I had booked this hotel months in advance. Since it was late and we were exhausted, we tried to compromise and were going to change hotels. Except, they had lied and stated it was only 9 minutes away, when the hotel is actually located 40ish minutes away in another borough - the Bronx! This was totally unacceptable and demanded for them to fix this issue. They stated that all they had was a small room with a twin sized bed for the first night and promised to move us the following day. At this point, it was past midnight so we agreed. This twin sized bed was so small and was more of a toddler sized bed. My partner and I had to sleep on our sides to prevent ourselves from falling off the bed. Anyways, they knocked on our door early around 7:45am and gave us keys to a new room with a queen bed. At this point, he admitted that the hotel overbooked, when he initially lied and stated that "the queen size room wasn't available because the bed was broken". We went to the room and it smelled like mold and mildew. I had to leave the AC running on the highest setting and opened the window and let the smell out of the room. Day 2: my partner and I left to go to the music festival and the elevator was broken. We had to climb up and down four flights of stairs. I tried my best to keep my cool and asked about the elevator being out in a kind demeanor. The daytime front desk person was extremely rude and did not care at all. He said "it is what it is". Another note: there are soap dispensers but they were all empty. My partner and I could not wait to leave this hotel, as it was the worst stay of my life. I advise everyone to look elsewhere if you need to stay around this area! My friend stayed at the Starlight Hotel and was offered much better service. And his...
