This is the best film shop I've been to in NYC - they're so good and convenient that I've stopped developing my film at home and just take it to them now. They have the best prices for development and scanning and their turnaround time is amazing. Today I dropped off a roll for development and had the scans emailed to me an hour later. Additionally, the store is family run and they're always friendly and helpful. I really can't recommend this store enough.

All of the attached photos are scans from them. I have a dedicated 35mm film scanner, but since discovering Photo Life I rarely scan my film myself anymore because their scans are so good. Pay attention to the lighting, in particular - a lot of photo labs will blow out the shadows in low light shots, resulting in grainy, messy, and tinted scans that look awful, but the scans I get back from Photo Life preserve blacks and shadows even on rolls where the dynamic range varies wildly.

Seriously, check them out because they're truly...

I recently went to Photo Life to get passport pictures taken, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The service was quick, affordable, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful throughout the process.

The photos came out perfectly. The price was also very reasonable, especially compared to chain stores. I was in and out in 10 minutes.

I've also heard great things about their film developing services--apparently the turnaround time is incredibly fast (sometimes same day!) and their scans are top-notch, with beautiful color and detail.

Whether you need passport photos, film development, or just friendly, reliable service, give Photo Life a chance: you won't be...

I hate inffeciency if you claim to be so busy on a Sunday while your employee or family member (if this is a family run buisness) are just standing around then you have anticipate busy days and get extra. This review only got 2 stars because the extremely infficient way you run your buisness and the way you spoke to the guy behind him telling right away that his pictures wont be availble til 5 pm thats way more than an hour. Again if your soo busy then get more help. The pictures turned out great by the way. But i did not need to way 10 minutes to get some pictures that have been avialble for an hour. Also follow @risseysrecs on instagram to avoid places and lines this! In...

OMG. I am in utter awe at this beautiful, wonderful, transcendent establishment that charges LITERALLY ONE THIRD the price for developing + scanning than anywhere else in NY and probably the U.S. Despite this lower cost, the scans are HIGHER QUALITY than most other places I've been to. As of April 2023, $6 for C41 develop + scan, where scans are 3088 × 2048 resolution and generally completed in LESS THAN 24 HRS. Compare this to basically anywhere else in the city (or U.S.) where the cheapest I've found is $18 for comparable quality scans and turn-around times of at least two days. This place is godsend. Thank you Photo Life team.

For developing they're super quick, super inexpensive, negatives are well-handled and in good condition for re-scans. If you want your 35mm negatives in 6-frame strips be sure to ask, they'll give you 4-frame by default. They use a Noritsu for their minilab; standard JPG scans from 120 film are around 2000dpi. Staff is attentive and on-task. Film prices are a little higher than big shops, but if you need some rolls right away the premium isn't outrageous. No gear selection to speak of, this is a film/dev/print/scan shop and not a camera shop.
