Quality Inn near Sunset Park — Attraction in New York

Stylistically reminiscent of early tenement

The first thing I noticed after opening the door was the minuscule size (See pic). I have never been in a hotel room this small. Ever. The next thing I noticed was how dirty the place was. There was crud caked onto the mirror, which would have been impossible to miss by anyone glancing at it (See pic). The dirt on the floor stuck to my feet. The only two narrow drawers in the whole room had dirt in them. The lampshade had stains on it. The shower floor was stained yellow, was cracked and chipped in places as was the grouting, and there was dirt on the shower wall. The roll of toilet paper was completely soaked. There was a puddle of water under the toilet tank. There was dirt on the base of the refrigerator frame. There is no closet, just three 6” rods sticking out of the wall to hang clothes on, with a few hangars; no iron. There is hot water, but you have to wait quite literally four to five minutes for it to get hot. The view is of 278 as it is right next to this main thoroughfare. This also makes the traffic considerably noisy 24 hours a day (See pic). I was never so happy to get home to a good night’s sleep. BTW- the refrigerator and AC are also noisy. There is no parking and when I asked where the nearest garage was, they couldn’t tell me. You would think that the manager of any hotel with no parking would have this kind of information readily available for any guests who might be driving in. I would not think it a very smart idea to park a three year old car with out of state plates in an industrial area for three days. The following day, I came back to my roomette, and saw that the bed wasn’t made and thought housekeeping didn’t come. There was a placard stating they would replace towels every three days (See pic). Nope; housekeeping was there. The only thing they did was the only thing which was stated they would not do. The towels were changed. The coffee cups, which I used were not replaced, leaving me with none, and the decaf tea, which I used was not replaced leaving me with none. There is not a question as to whether I would stay here again. Absolutely not. this hotel had some fees that were not talked about in the reviews

Me and my boyfriend checked in around 3:30am ish and the staff in the lobby was nice and friendly with us. When you first check in, there is a security fee of $50 to ensure you don't break any rules. This fee is chill since they said it will drop when you check out in 3-5 business days. Check in is 3pm, check out is 11am.

Base on previous review, we hope that our room would be clean and tidy, that we would not be sleeping with bugs.

We checked in, our room was a decent size. We had a king size bed with a TV that streams netfix, hulu, disney +, etc. The bed did take up most of our walking space. Bathroom was also a decent size, they do provide mini hand sanitizer size lotion, conditioner, and shampoo. And some towels. still bring your own. For the bed, some of the pillows were a little worn out but there was 2 pillow that was decent out of the four.

There's quite a lot of noises outside the hotel building that you can hear if you are a light sleeper. You can also hear people outside your door.

we missed out on breakfast catching up for sleep so I can't say much for that (for those who do miss out, there's a costco nearby, around 8 minute walk, you can just go there and get there cheap food).

Since we checked in around 3am in the morning, we had ask the staff during check in if it was possible to check out at 12. The staff said yes nicely so we thought it was no problem. In the morning we received a call from the lobby saying we had to pay a $25 late fee for checking out late... me and my boyfriend had been in a quality inn hotel around the vestal near Binghamton university and we were basically late to checking out but a late fee was never part of the conversation in that hotel. maybe different policy for different quality inn hotel.

What a disaster!!

You walk into the reception, and you can tell it will be terrible.

It's a Mom/Pop family operation. Every staff person is Oriental and speaks their language on the radio. It was filthy behind the reception desk with outdated devices. Caught the attendant eating behind the reception desk. No uniform, all staff behind the counter in casual clothes. Dirty windows at the entrance. Instead of putting a hold on the incidental fee, the staff member charged it to the card He asked if I wanted room service? Isn't that included in the room rate? Walked into the room, and the beds had wrinkled sheets, dressed by an amateur. No microwave. The fridge froze all our water and food. The shower had just shampoo and conditioner. No bottle for body wash. When inquired about the body wash, he gave a bar of soap between two people. The body wash bottle was installed next to the miniature sink. Due to the shady nature of the hotel, I went ahead and cancelled the room service. The morning breakfast was a joke! There was no one coming to check on and replenish supplies. The regular coffee jug was empty, the milk had gone bad, no sugar packets, but a filthy jar of sugar, stale bread, and muffins looked like they had survived the defrost. Juices were too diluted with water. No eggs, bacon, or sausages!! I skipped the next two days, going for breakfast. When one of the guests complained about the lack of service at the reception for breakfast, an old oriental man came to fill up the tray, but said things in Chinese and looked with mean eyes towards the guest. I could have had a much nicer experience for $200/night. Very disappointed!!! To keep the company flag. The company should be making unannounced inspections to look at the deteriorating condition of the staff's attitude...
