I actually grew up attending the Queens Community House. I started attending Queens Community house back in 2001 when I was in the sixth grade And back when it used to be called Forest Hills community. I attended the young men’s leadership groups during middle school I actually participated when it actually had a lot of funding as a teenager via sports teams and other activities along time ago. And if I had to be very honest, I did have some fun times up until a certain point of my life.
I believe things kind of started to turn down is when I dedicated a lot of time to keep the place open, especially with the to help keep the place running by advocating as a teenager and young adult I started to realize The shadiness that goes around with an from former employers for an example, I noticed a lot of the employers didn’t really like each other and he got very political where everyone just started talking trash behind each other’s back mostly because of the budget cuts when I was there. It felt like the Capital building where every Congres person and Senator were arguing with each other because of money and programming issues!
I know I participated in the employment programs. They had for teens and young adults with someone named Sean Reyes, in which I kind of realize majority of the people he hired were like young good looking females that out weighting the male opportunity when it comes to getting employment to a point where one of his employee became his wife and the mother of his children.
I also attended evening teen center From 7 to 10 PM Were yes there were some good times, but they were Some bad...
Read moreVolunteer (2020-2022): Unprofessional Executive Management Team and Staff. Misleading in terms of pay. They ask staff to purchase supplies and work needs out of their own pocket, just to wait 90 days for reimbursement. Overworked and underpaid. They do not promote lunch breaks, they will expect that you work through lunch, then question why you didn’t take lunch. Gaslighting, Manipulative, and Abusive place to work. No support or accountability from Management. All Sites except for the new site (Forest Hills), have roaches and mice. Pomonok and Austin Street have a mice infestation (Pomonok has an open food pantry for community, roaches and mice crawling on the food before they give it out to the community). They also have a roach infestation. You will see they make justifications (you work in the basement, but we have Orkin come once a month……or they blame it on NYCHA). Rude to clients as well. Staff bring drugs on site to sell to other staff and clients. Disgusting. Unorganized. Unprofessional. Misleading....
Read moreForest Hills Community Center is such an amazing place to visit . Everyone is eager to help you with everything you need. They are always smiling and trying to make it easier for you. I enrolled here on the English 2 Work program . The program has options from beginning level to more advanced level of English. The ABE classes are really helpful for the advanced students that can’t afford to pay this type of course in a private institution. I’m really grateful for being accepted in the program. I encourage everyone to take advantage of everything this program has to offer. This kind of places are one of the things that makes New York City a place with lots of opportunities without any...
