As you can see that two years ago, I wrote a very nice review for Castle. I am now extremely dissapointed with the living conditions for my family resident. I chose Castle because he needs assistance and he and other residents are not being assisted with basic needs. The bedding cover of mattresses are torn and Abe the administrator is doing nothing about it. Not just torn, they have huge holes. The staff doesnt see it when they change sheets or make the beds? He doesn't care nor addresses issues in the building. There is constant vermin, bed bugs, roaches, showing up in halls and rooms, elevators brake down often and the residents are made to walk up 5 plus floor stairs to their rooms, water is no longer provided to residents, the administration want residents to buy their water, there are no more social holiday celebrations with residents and family, the food is awful. I cook weekly meals for my resident due to loss of weight. The worse that has been applied since this new administration came in is, that they took it upon themselves without asking the resident or me to switch our direct deposit banking to direct deposit into a Castle senior living account. That seems to me to be a crime. I never was asked to give permission nor was my resident asked to switch from our bank to Castle's bank. Oh YES, I did switch it back to our bank. Other residents say they did that to their accounts also. I haved called Abe the Castle administrator numerous times to no avail. I have not yet met him since he took over, because he doesn't return calls and has his voice mail shut off for leaving messages. I placed my resident at Castle because it was recommended to me by Park Terrace administrators. At the time Castle went to see my resisent and promised me he would have the best care and moved him in from one day to the next. It wasnt fabulous two years ago, but certainly not as horrible and dissapointing as it is now. These residents are at the last years of their lives and deserve respect and decent care. They DO NOT LIVE FOR FREE AT Castle Senior Living. Abe don't forget you are in the aging process and pray no one treats you like you are treating the residents at Castle. I'm in constant contact with my resident and expect his matress to be changed to a new one and receive the services advertised on your website. Again the residents DO NOT LIVE FOR FREE at Castle and deserve better treatment. While you are at it, make sure you have a registered nurse in the building day, night and weekends that would be a plus. Its a shame that I had to edit my review from two years ago because enough is enough...
This below is my post from two years ago... -Castle Senior Living has a comfortable environment for their residents. The staff tries to attend to resident's family concerns and try to be attentive to the residents. The front desk personnel are courteous, friendly and welcoming. One person in particular is a lovely lady Jeannette who helps my family member often with his needs. They are also pleasant when answering the phone and try to direct you to the correct staff personnel to address whatever issues arise concerning a resident. Martine the head person of Wellness has always gone up and above expectations concerning my family memember at Castle Senior Living, thank you Martine. Sam the director addresses or returns my phone calls timely. He is always pleasant and always tries to have a solution for any concern I may have about my family member at Castle. The social and case worker Farita is also very helpful and always returns calls when she is not available at my time of calling. Valina, the Community Relations Director is one of the most helpful staff members at Castle. She is friendly, welcoming and demonstrates her commitment and care for the residents at Castle Senior Living. I appreciate the care my family member is having with Assisted Living at Castle...
Read moreAs recent new residents to Castle, we are exceptionally pleased with the facility, and even more pleased with Amina, who is the heart of Castle. She has real, palpable compassion for the residents, and is an exceptional person, working to make residents’ lives better every day. We looked at many ALP facilities, and all were lacking. Then we heard of Castle and met Amina. My wife and I were in a serious car accident with my wife suffering an internal decapitation. Of all the ALPs we saw, only Amina assuaged our concerns, and Debbie, the PA who runs medical assured us of proper treatment of my wife’s incredibly rare injury. We have been here a year and both Amina and Debbie have been absolutely true to their word. We are both getting the medication and care we need, not an easy thing to find in New York City. Abe, who efficiently runs Castle bent over backwards to arrange our residency. We are very grateful to them all.
The facility is still in a state of flux with new management, but from management to housekeeping to medical to food service to personal aides, the staff are universally kind, caring and respectful, always cognizant of maintaining the dignity of residents.
We are deeply appreciative of Abe, Avi, Fareeda and especially Amina’s kindness and compassion, and are very pleased to be...
