Captain Tilly Park is a beautiful, small neighborhood park that excels as a peaceful sanctuary, though its potential is continually undercut by a lack of proper upkeep. What’s Good? The park offers excellent tree coverage and is a fantastic spot for a variety of activities: walking your dog, running, or just a peaceful stroll. While open areas are limited, the abundant shade and natural feel make it perfect for quiet enjoyment. The opportunity for goose and turtle watching adds a nice touch of nature. Plus, the new public restrooms and ample benches are huge benefits. The park is most active after 2 p.m. The Not-So-Good: The main issue is the overall cleanliness. The poorly maintained paths and the constant presence of trash and discarded garbage bags are truly disheartening. I've personally seen two dedicated, community-minded individuals picking up litter on their own—God bless them—but this vital job shouldn't fall solely to volunteers. Bottom Line: It's a wonderful little park, but the Community Board should take immediate action. Regular maintenance and organized "Clean Your Park Days" would transform this space from a decent local spot to a spectacular...

Aaaahhhh the Tilly Park, I used to walk and spend some time over there when I was a teen. It’s really nice and quite. However I’ve seen a lot of high school cutting classes spending time with their girlfriends and boyfriends. My little brother and his friends got their Halloween candy robbed by some boys at night lol, around 2010, I hope it’s better now. Also the park looked more clean before; now the water is dirty and the filter looks like it’s broken. There should be more police at night in the area. I remember going there to just sit and draw after college with school bag and the police use to come up to check my ID almost all the time lol. They were thinking I was cutting high school classes lmao. Great neighborhood but don’t walk alone...

It's v big park and beautiful place but gov and management are not utilizing it properly. The kids park needs more renovation . Swins only for infant and small kids which are using adults and school students. Slides are only for 1 to 3 years when kids become 3 than thay do not take intrest. There is no new for kids my son fed up after 3 years he do not goes to park now . Pond is v nice place but dangrodan for kids we always watch kids it's dangerous there is no protector for kids. The park is v big so gov needs to renovate it and bring new activities some free and some with tickets. Captain tile park a big area management can copy Bronx zoo and central park activities for kids in this place. I can work volunteer if...

The park has great potential and has so many historical monuments within the park but it's grossly overshadowed by garbage and being under kept generally. The wildlife there is easy to spot and takes you a bit away from the hustle bustle of our everyday NY streets it's nice to watch the ducks and birds go by or catch a turtle bobbing on the surface of the pond. I'd love if there was more community involvement if possible... making that happen if funding is what's preventing that I think would be a great way to turn this place around.

What a perfect way to start the day... a morning walk is just what I needed! 🌄 Whenever I feel overwhelmed or bored with my studies, I love taking a break and coming to park to clear my mind. There's something about being in nature that helps me relax and recharge. I can leave my books and notes behind for a little while and simply enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery. It's the perfect way to refresh my mind and come back to my studies with renewed energy and focus!
