They do not have the restaurant grade posted on their storefront, which is illegal. I looked up their grade on the official NYC site, and sure enough they received a 'grade pending' which means:
A "Grade Pending" sign in a New York City restaurant window means that the restaurant received a B or C grade on both its initial and reinspection inspections.
So clearly they are trying to hide that they failed restaurant inspections MORE THAN ONCE due to having unsanitary conditions. I would not eat here with my family if I were you. I will also be reporting it to the city. And it's funny how they have very obviously fake stellar reviews from family on here. Notice how many of the 5-star reviews are coming from shell accounts with only 1 review and for this place only, as if the account was created just to leave a 5 star review for this restaurant and never used again.
Please read the screenshots from the NYC.gov site, they have roaches AND mice. Why is it so hard for desis to be clean and sanitary? And I'm saying this as a Bengali.
Edit: I passed the store again and they have put up their grade pending sign. However, after my negative review, the owner posted more artificial positive reviews for themselves to offset my negative review. See my screenshots and notice how they all were posted within the same hour as if it's the same person typing up the reviews in quick succession one after the other.
These businesses leaving fake positive reviews for themselves...
Read moreThis was my first visit after their new look & new management. I had to work early & after work I was craving for some Bangladeshi breakfast. Instead of going to Jackson heights like always I decided to come to Jamaica, NY. This area is always so busy & I didn't feel like to seat on a crowded place so chose this one.
I ordered porota , alu bhazi & the server recommended chicken soup so I also got that. The porota size was huge & I should have sticked with 1 lol, I didn't even touch the second one. Loved the porota, alu bhazi was ok, soup I didn't like at all! Little disappointed but their curries looked delicious! Next time I will definitely try some. After a authentic Bangladeshi breakfast I had to drink some cha, it was good.
I also had to buy some Bangladeshi cookies because I loved their bakery items. Got a pack of sweet also for my son.
The restroom was clean & had decent decor. The service was good, I felt bad for the sister who was working by herself! They should Atleast have 2 people working in the front, 1 person isn't just enough!
Another thing I felt is that their prices are much reasonable then other places, sweets are little more pricey then other places tho . But tasted fresh so I am happy about that.
Thank you for the hard work , appreciate the hospitality a lot. Hope the business runs well & keep improving in...
Read moreIâve always been a big fan of Mannan Restaurant in Jamaica. For years, I mostly went there for their biryani and authentic deshi khabar like vorta, dal, beef curry, and shutki. The biryani is rich with flavor, perfectly spiced without being overwhelming, and the vorta and dal have that true homestyle taste you donât often find in restaurants. Every dish feels like itâs been made with care, bringing out the comfort of Bangladeshi cooking.
Recently, I decided to try something different and picked up a few items from their bakery section, and Iâm glad I did. The cream bread was soft, lightly sweet, and fresh â almost melting in the mouth â while their pickles added the right amount of tangy, spicy kick that pairs so well with rice dishes. These bakery items turned out to be an excellent complement to their main menu, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
What I like about Mannan is that itâs not just about one or two standout dishes; itâs the consistency and variety. Whether itâs a filling plate of biryani, a side of dal with vorta, or a simple snack like cream bread and pickles, everything carries the same quality. Mannan continues to be one of my favorite spots in Jamaica, and now I know I can rely on them for both a hearty meal and tasty...
