Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary & St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church — Attraction in New York

Those looking for vital records (for genealogy purposes) through the rectory should know they are doing it only through snail mail: no phone-ins, emails or in-person requests. I was told they were not going to do searches or let the public handle the records. You need an exact date, perhaps a month and year in the least. Also, the rectory hours on the website weren't the same as the voice recording at the telephone number so call ahead if you plan to visit. I was treated quite coldly by the secretary once I arrived.

The church looks beautiful in pictures, but unfortunately was closed the Thursday afternoon...

I use to be a long time Parishioner of St. Agnes Church (my brothers and I went to school there as well). I decided to make a change because the community environment wasn’t the same anymore, it’s a competition in Church, very unwelcoming from everyone, always talking about the money they need, and God’s word wasn’t speaking to me the way it should. I attend Sacred Hearts from time to time over the years; I’m now a devoted Parishioner and everything that I just mentioned about St. Agnes, is the opposite at Sacred Hearts! Hallelujah! This is my choice of church near home. It is beautiful and clean. Social distance is heartily encouraged with masks, hand sanitizer and cloths available for the congregants to use - not abuse. The service was brief but powerful. Things are done with spiritual needs in mind while not overlooking the realities of life during COVID.
