Such a cute spot and absolutely justified awards! Visited my sister who lives in Carroll Gardens and didn’t want to come empty handed so we decided to bring some baked goodies. The neighborhood has so many highly rated bakeries, but checking out the award-winning (and 5-star on google) Brooklyn French Bakers was a no-brainer. The bakery itself is essentially just a register and display of the baked goods. That’s all you need! We got 2 mini croissants (the big one was ginormous!!!), a raspberry almond tart, and a couple pain au chocolat. Each was outstanding. The croissants were buttery and crispy upon first bite. The tart was so delicately sweet and the bite gave just enough resistance. The chocolate in the pain au chocolat was soft and perfectly complimented the buttery exterior. Also the bakers are French! Could feel like a small detail, but makes it all the more authentic and a more enjoyable experience. Like I said at the beginning, Carroll Gardens has a lot of truly great bakeries, but you cannot go wrong with Brooklyn French Bakers.

We heard about this bakery on YouTube and learned they were winners of the 2023 NY’s best croissant competition. We made sure to visit them during our trip 😁 Really nice staff and cute store in Brooklyn. To be fair, we didn’t try their plain croissants that earned win, instead we decided to go for the Chocolate croissant and Almond croissant, the latter being my favorite type. The chocolate croissant had amazing texture and was great, but it was missing the buttery flavor, one looks for in a croissant. Maybe I just couldn’t taste it - it was a really cold day. The almost croissant wasn’t quite on par with other almond croissants that I’ve tried before. I really wanted this place to be a 5-star bakery, but based on what I tried I can’t give more than 4 stars.

The best addition to the neighborhood in years. It’s such a treat to have some of the most delicious croissants, sourdough loaves and baguettes in New York just around the corner. The real star though is the puff brioche - one of our favorite things to bring to dinner or brunch with friends (or to devour ourselves over the course of a weekend). It’s light, fluffy, buttery and sweet and I’ll miss it every day when we move.
