Staten Island Mall — Attraction in New York

The details as to why the new upgrades are bad is extensive. The mall looks great but the crowds it attracts after 3 pm are horrible. The food court is just kids aged 12-18 running in and out of table/hanging out. Kids are wearing slippers, sweatpants girls are wearing cropped tops and the boys are chasing them throughout. The smell of marijuana as kids are smoking it in the food court is offensive. All lounge areas consist of are girls sitting on boys laps with a grin on as to "we all know what you are doing", at least use a jacket to cover your lap. There is no mall security at ALL. I saw security cars parked in the garage, but not 1 mall cop to address this behavior. The new food court was filthy to saw the least. On a Monday at 3 pm, tables were dirty, floors weren't mopped or wept. Large puddles of soda on the floor. This is a fair assessment as I went during weekdays over the course of 3 weeks. The parking garage is not much better. teenagers making the elevator get stuck and running up and down the stairs smoking weed. They weren't old enough to buy cigarettes. They hangout in the parking garage leaning up against cars they are not old enough to drive, and literally just walk around inside the garage. They are loud, cursing and obnoxious. Cars speed in and out because there are no clear signs directing the flow of traffic. I remember going to the mall when I was younger and I and my friends never acted like this. At this point, I encourage mothers with young children to avoid this mall and go elsewhere as to not subject them to this spectacle. If mall staff/owners do not want to address it, then they will...

I had to write this review because today I went through a bad experience I came with my two children one being 4 and I asked on of the janitors (Spanish lady) if she can please open the family restroom. She denied me and said in Spanish “Los demás baños están abrietos use esos” use the other bathrooms they are open. I explained to her that I have a little one that does not stay put and that I feel secure with them in the family restroom and that if this service is offered why deny me it. She after said well I can not open it the other person that opens those doors has not arrived so I told her ok no problem I will have security help me thank you. I called security and they told me nicely that they will get someone to open it for me and to my surprise it was the same lady and while opening the door she rudely talks to me I don’t understand why you can not use the other bathrooms I explained to her if your a mother you would understand the fear of loosing a child in the mall or trying to have eyes on two children In The bathroom while one is a toddler and the other young too. I said this service is free and there’s is no reason for you to be upset for a job that is required of you to clients and sorry but I will do what is best and safe when. I am at the mall with my kids and she just walked upset and mad nor did I insult her or treat her with disrespect like she did very upsetting. And what’s more upsetting to me is that she is Spanish like me you would think she would be happier to help but no I was wrong hope this does not...

As a present “Staten Islander” for the last almost 2 decades, I must say, they have made an extremely huge step up from what they used to be. They have always had many different nice stores, however, they’ve also had reconstruction done, and made a lot of changes and progress within the last few years. They added a lot of new stores, plus, fixed up a lot of the areas, and made a lot of upgrades to the property (in and out). I can’t even put in words how amazing everything looks now. I actually just came here today, to size 2 of my new watches, and realized how different everything is now (in a GOOD) way. Now, when it comes to the people that work there, there’s always good and bad no matter where you go. To be straight up and blunt, there’s genuine, caring, helpful employees, as well as ignorant, miserable, selfish scumbags as well. At this point in time, I can’t really point out specific stores that have those negative types of employees. However, all I know is, they’ve made the necessary changes they needed to, and I have 0 complaints about any one/store there.
