I would be happy to support the beautiful Central Park by buying something from the Dairy Gift Shop, however I had an awful experience today from one of the employees. When my partner and I first went in a gentleman was staring at us, no greeting or uniform, so I presumed he was another shopper. He then proceeded to follow and continue glaring at us as we browsed the selection. Then when we were testing a product that was clearly marked with a tester label and had been used by many previous customers, he very unprofessionally yelled “YO, you can’t open that only smell.” Firstly, this product was clearly marked as a tester and secondly, how are we supposed to smell the product when it is a body butter in an enclosed case. We tried to explain that the product was a tester to him, but he just continued shouting “you can’t, you can’t! ONLY SMELL.” We were very disturbed by this encounter and left the gift shop immediately after. We will certainly not being returning, which is unfortunate because the selection was...

Totally charming visitor center and shop with a lovely array of distinctive souvenirs and gifts. In a most beautiful historic building across from the Chess & Checkers House, also recently restored and a delight.

On the day of my visit, though, I was taken aback when the staff member at the cash register sharply called out to me not to pull closed the door behind me, since it had an automatic closing mechanism. (It was an intensely hot and humid day, so I'd made a point of closing it to keep the heat out and save energy.) A moment later the next visitor did just what I'd done upon entering, and again the staffer let out a scolding, saying the fellow would break the door by manually closing it! Very rude! (Why they don't simply put a sign on the door is beyond me; this must happen all day long in the...

I was very disappointed in their customer service yesterday. I asked if there was any place I could possibly charge my cell phone as I needed to stay in touch with my husband who has Alzheimer's. I am always in fear that we would be separated and Central Park is huge!! I was abruptly told no and no recommendation or assistance was offered. Shortly thereafter I came upon the Gift Shop near the Zoo and the lovely, lovely girl did not hesitate. She pushed some clothing aside and allowed me to use an outlet on the wall. There were even stools nearby. Thank you Kimesha. Thumbs down to the older woman at the Dairy...

The Dairy Visitor Center and Gift shop is nice, BUT the reason this is a 5 is because if you have made it here, and you are interested in finding the remaining hidden survey bolt in Central Park, you are 'warm', so close. The bolt was put in the ground by John Randel Jr. in the early 1800's, as he planned the Manhattan grid we know today (google it). It's much smaller than you think, and it's exact location is kept a secret by those that know where it is... it's a bit of a treasure hunt.

How can a gift shop selling things for your dog not be dog friendly? Visited during a week day with my pup in a buggy….he’s 15. “We don’t allow dogs in the store” Ok - but he’s not really IN the store - he’s inside a stroller….? “Well that’s our policy” My advice: Use their AC and pick up a free map but keep your money in your pocket if they are that dumb.

Decent shop for non-super touristy gifts and memorabilia of just Central Park (don’t come looking for the usual I heart NY stuff). The ladies at the cash register are very kind and attentive. The place is nice and has some benches just outside in the shade so you can rest a bit while moving between areas of the park.
