One of Central Park‘s most well – loved traditions, Shakespeare in The Park is as popular as Broadway shows. It has managed to put on the Central Park stage some of the most iconic plays like Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello, and many more! It has a season of its own and it is called summer, usually running through most of may up until august. It also has one of the greatest stages – the Great Lawn. Belvedere Castle and Turtle Pond are the “décor”. Unlike Broadway, where performances start in the evening, here they begin in the afternoon. Most of the times the sun is still up. Shakespeare in the Park is the creative child of legend Joseph Papp. The first performance was in 1962. Since then, the stage has seen some iconic actors like ames Earl Jones, Al Pacino, and Meryl Streep among the rest. And the best part is that these shows are free, whic makes them affordable for everyone. Everything for the sake of entertainmen! Today, the Delacorte theatre is the one responsible for the organization of Shakespeare in the Park and provide those in “attendance” the opportunity to see up and coming actors, as well as established stars, and famous plays.

I spent the day in Central Park enjoying the weather and looking at all the historic statues and the scenery. I ended up walking down the Mall where there are lots of statues. I found this beautiful statue of Shakespeare in the circle at the bottom of The Mall.

Despite the heat a place worth going too. In the shade the air is fresh even at present temperatures and then it is just gorgeous: a bonus is seeing the sunset amongst the trees at 8:30pm or so. Just...
