I recently visited for a birthday celebration with a party of two. The reservation was made for 6:30 PM, and we arrived promptly. However, we were not called to be seated until 6:50 PM. While I understand that tables need to be turned and guests may take longer to vacate, this delay was acknowledged by the host, who apologized and mentioned that appetizers would be sent to us as a gesture of goodwill. Unfortunately, these appetizers never arrived.
Once seated, we received a thoughtful birthday card from the host, which was a nice touch. However, the service provided by our server, Ajet A., was disappointing and far below the standard expected at such an establishment.
To begin with, Ajet attempted to take our order from memory, which initially felt rushed and unprofessional. Upon realizing this was not effective, he began writing the order down. We ordered the prime rib for two and were immediately subjected to an inappropriate comment, as Ajet asked, "Cooked right?" based on our appearance. This left us feeling uncomfortable, and we responded by ordering our steaks cooked to our preferred rare temperature.
When our appetizers arrived, including the porterhouse meatballs and steak tartare, Ajet proceeded to prepare the steak tartare in a rough and careless manner, making both my guest and I exchange concerned glances, unsure if we had done something to provoke this behavior.
As the meal progressed, Ajet failed to exhibit basic attention to detail. We had to flag him down for a simple wine refill and drink change order, a task that any attentive server would have noticed. This lack of engagement made us feel uncomfortable, yet we chose to move forward and continue with the evening.
When we finished, we requested the bill. A birthday dessert was brought to the table, which we appreciated. The bill totaled $463.81, and in the spirit of fairness, we tipped $40, recognizing that we work in the industry ourselves. However, Ajet processed the payment without a word of thanks or acknowledgment and simply walked away. A separate staff member brought the receipt to us, stretching across the empty table to hand it over, with no words of gratitude or farewell.
While the food itself was delicious, the overall experience was incredibly disappointing. The lack of professionalism and poor service overshadowed what should have been a celebratory evening. I had high hopes when booking this reservation, but unfortunately, the service left a sour taste that I cannot ignore. I sincerely hope the establishment addresses these issues to ensure future guests receive the level of service...
Read moreSaw this restaurant advertised on some tv show and it looked pretty tasty so when visiting NYC decided to stop by.
At first glance, it was sort of nondescript. There are covered outdoor seating areas that looked private and cozy but it was our first time there so we didn’t partake, plus it was cold and windy. Walking in, you go down stairs into what looks like an old underground gangster hideaway. There is a bar with a seating area and a couple tables for dining. The hostess took us up 3 flights of stairs and seated us at a tabletop for 2 against a wall and very close to the next table. Ambiance was lovely. The restaurant itself was really nice.
The service is excellent. The wait staff were very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the Hanger Steak and Brandied Cherries with Broccoli and Cheese Bites and Parmesan Waffle Fries. I ordered the steak medium well, but the waiter advised me that the steak would be tough if I ordered it that way, and it would be best to order it a little rare. I don’t like rare meat, so I ordered it a little past medium. When the steak came out, it looked charred on both sides, and it was very tough and dry. I don’t believe that cooking the steak the way I wanted it would’ve made it dry, it may have been tough, but not dry. To me it appeared the steak had just been overcooked. The brandied cherries were delicious and have a little spicy taste to them. The Broccoli Cheese Bites could have been better, but they didn’t really hold a flavor. Had they seasoned the batter, it may have tasted better. The cheese grated on top was unnecessary. They presented them with a dipping sauce that I was flavorless. It looked like a spicy chipotle sauce. The waffle fries weren’t bad, but had they drizzled butter over them and then added grated Parmesan (or added butter afterwards) with the seasoning, it would’ve been perfect.
My companion ordered the Green Goddess Chopped Salad, which was delicious. He also ordered Filet Mignon a little past medium and Whipped Potatoes. His filet was charred and bleeding so he ate around the edges and left the rest. The potatoes came out cold so he sent them back to be reheated. They came back cold again. Shame, because they were tasty. We left without our leftovers. Didn’t see the point.
I’m very impressed with the aesthetic of the place, and the service, the food presentation was nice, but we left with unfulfilled appetites and...
Read moreDining at Quality Meats in New York City was an unforgettable experience that exceeded all expectations. Although the evening started off a little bumpy with them taking 10 min of extra time to set up our table. The evening began with a loud ambiance (if you are looking to talk with people I would recommend the dinning room downstairs and not near the stairs going to the second level. Once I got my first drink I realized why this place is so popular. The Teardrop Martini was a fiery surprise—horseradish-infused vodka with teardrop peppers as a garnish. It left my taste buds tingling and eager for another sip.
Next we had some appetizers brought to the table first was a delicate Casellas Prosciutto, setting the stage for the culinary adventure ahead and the The Dry-Aged Porterhouse Meatballs were a melt-in-your-mouth experience, where the black garlic truly shone, even for someone like me who isn’t usually a fan of Gorgonzola crema I would still recommend. The prosciutto isn’t really anything new and you can get at any restaurant in NYC.
I decided for my dinner portion to split a few more apps and a steak to really get a full picture of this menu. First up was the Honey Glazed Ribs were nothing short of perfection—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and infused with the vibrant flavors of lemongrass, ginger, and mint. Each bite was a revelation. Next was the Grilled Bacon, paired with jalapeños and a beautifully textured peanut sauce, added a rich, smoky note that was utterly satisfying.
One of the standout dishes was the traditional Steak Tartare, made with hand-cut filet mignon. The interactive experience of mixing the ingredients yourself was delightful, though I found myself wishing for more crisps to fully enjoy every last bite.
The Yellowfin Tuna Tartare, dressed in a chili-citrus vinaigrette, was refreshingly light yet bursting with flavor. And, of course, the Filet Mignon was the epitome of perfection—seasoned and cooked just right. If you want meat look not further then Quality Meats…I hope I can make my way back to review some more of there amazing food and cocktails.
