The space seems very nice and clean from what I could tell from the outside. There is a standard two gate system for safety at the entrance. It is all hard surface, no grass. Looks like there were extra poop bags and such stocked. There is no separation between small and large dogs, it's all one big open area.
We really wanted to love this park but other owners definitely ruined the experience. I understand that dogs will be dogs, but owners need to step in at some point and be accountable for the behavior of their pets. We stepped into the first gate with no issue, the park wasn't overly busy, probably about 10-15 people there on a Saturday morning while the Green Market was going on.
When we got to the second gate we noticed one very excited dog awaiting our arrival, and that's no issue. We couldn't really get inside because of the dog but we just sort of inched our way in until I was inside and the gate was open- my husband right behind me with our dog. At this point someone was trying to come in the first gate, and someone started yelling at them to not open because a dog could get out- understandable.
The owner of the excited dog refused to actually do anything about their dog. He was all over my girl in seconds, trying to mount her, and I had to pull him off of her myself with no help at all while not knowing who the owner was because no one was paying attention besides the person yelling. This dog was a very stocky either bulldog or pitbull type breed so all muscle. I had to pull him off, get myself between him and my dog, and get her off the ground. After I did this, the dog wouldn't stop jumping up on me. I have chronic pain issues, and this was an absolute nightmare moment for me. We were stuck by the open gate because the dog wouldn't get out of the way and couldn't move. My husband was stuck behind us because of this dog and couldn't assist. At the end of this fiasco, which lasted several minutes the owner FINALLY walked up and said "OFF" but the dog wouldn't listen and I still couldn't get away. The person finally pulled the dog away like it was a chore for them and I was able to get the gate closed, and we left.
Please, PLEASE pay attention to your dogs in these environments. This was a horrible situation to put someone in. We won't be returning based on this...
Read moreThe one thing I’ll say about the dog run is that there are a lot of dogs and there are a lot of owners. That makes her a very mixed bunch of dogs that behave in dogs that really don’t behave the issue here is that some of the dogs that don’t behave don’t have owners that reinforce positive behaviors. With the busyness of the dog run it’s just something to keep an eye out for if things get too crazy...
