Unisex Salon — Attraction in New York

Well since the highest rating for this dump is one star I might as well give my own review but I don’t know where to begin since there are so many things to say about this unprofessional landfill of what they call a unisex salon. Let’s see how about when it comes to looking for a job as a barber. So I called them and told them I would like to work as a barber since I have experience in cutting hair and all of a sudden the ladies that work behind the front desk were LAUGHING their butts off for whatever reason WHILE I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH ONE OF THEM. Really? When you’re an employee and you’re on the phone with a customer or an aspiring employee you should NEVER do anything stupid otherwise the customer or the aspiring employee will view you as an unprofessional business and will never come to your business. Not to mention one of the ladies that work behind the front desk is always giving me the bug-eyed stare every time I pass by the dump to go to work and it’s making me feel REALLY uncomfortable. Now let’s talk about the people who cut hair there. DID THEY GET THEIR LICENSES OUT OF A CEREAL BOX!?!?!?!? Like where the hell did they learn how to cut hair? Seriously at my job I have customers with terrible haircuts and I always ask them, “Who cut your hair and where did you get your haircut?” Their response, “The Unisex Hair Salon here in the mall.” Shake my head the salon even messed me up twice by two different barbers. The first barber no lie he cut my hair good but he made my beard uneven like when he was about to lineup my beard he said, “Alright my friend let’s figure out how to do this.” Uhhhh WHAAAAAAAT!?!?!? IS HE FOR REAL!?!?!? DID HE NOT LEARN HOW TO LINEUP A BEARD IN HAIR SCHOOL!?!?!? The barber held the trimmer right-side up to lineup my beard and he made my beard uneven that way. Whenever you’re lining up a beard you have to hold the trimmer upside down that way you can see the hairline of the beard and easily lineup the beard and that way the beard will be even. The second barber who cut my hair oh my god don’t even get me started with this idiot. I asked for a skin fade and he gave me buzz-cut-like haircut on the sides and back. When he started cutting my hair he started with a 1/16 guard now with how thick my hair was at that time, he should’ve started with a 1 1/2 guard and then fade up from skin to that 1 1/2. Next thing you know he completely made my hairline uneven like he touched one part of my hairline with his trimmers and didn’t touch the rest of it. Now that I’m done talking about my experience getting a haircut there it’s time to mention another thing about this dumpy salon and this is something that the barbers and cosmetologists there should really take........THEY DON’T STERILIZE AND SANITIZE THEIR EQUIPMENT IN FRONT OF THE CLIENT!!!!!! I WAS IN THE STATEN ISLAND MALL ON THURSDAY. I GOT MY PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE AT STARBUCKS. I WAS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO GO TO THE UNISEX SALON. I GAVE THE UNISEX SALON A TRY. I HAD MONA. MONA DID MY BLONDE HIGHLIGHTS, WASH, CUT, STYLE, AND BLOWOUT. VERA DID MY MANICURE. VERA DID MY NAILS TITANIUM. I GOT A MASSAGE TOO. I GIVE THE UNISEX SALON IN THE STATEN ISLAND MALL A 5.O AND BEYOND. THE UNISEX SALON TREATS YOU LIKE FAMILY. I WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK. SINCERELY. MR. DO NOT GO HERE!!! If I could rate this salon I would give it a -1000000. This was the worst hair experience of my entire life. The people that work at this salon are incredibly horrible at their jobs. I doubt they have any sort of training in the slightest. I had gone to get a wash and blowout. To start this disastrous appointment, the woman who washed my hair was so rough on my head and did not condition my hair at all. I can’t comprehend how you can screw up washing hair but she sure as hell found a way. After a painful washing experience I was sat in a salon chair with a different woman. She takes the cake for worst hairdresser I’ve ever seen. She sprayed my wet, unbrushed hair with hairspray and proceeded to go straight into blow drying my hair. No brushing it or anything. I lost half of my head of hair at this appointment I wish to god I was joking. This woman met resistance in my hair and continued to run the brush, painfully, through my hair. I said ow multiple times and she ignored me. I am absolutely baffled at how she even keeps her job with these methods. After the worst blowout in history, my hair was so fried and crunchy I couldn’t help but cry. I had an event to go to and I’ve never felt worse. It was so traumatic I just want to prevent another person from experiencing this.
