This is my favorite movie theater. The ambiance is great and the selection of movies suits my taste. The people who work at the Screening Room are always friendly and helpful. The facility is always clean and well kept, despite being one of the historic theaters on the north shore. They do not have a permit to make food on site, but they do have packaged drinks and food available. Food is not my top criteria for choosing a movie theater, although I do like to pick up a drink to enjoy...

What a darling spot - The Screening Room is a gem with great snacks, seltzers and a really perfect selection of movies. Some very special films that you think might only be shown in Cambridge or Boston make it to Newburyport through the care and curation of the sweet couple who run this theater. Simply put this is my favorite movie theater. The first movie I saw here was Jim Jarmusch's "Down by Law" with Tom Waits and Roberto Benigni (1986?). The last two were the Irish movie "Nowhere Special" and the Norwegian "Songs of Earth". I live in West Roxbury part of Boston but still make it here 3-5 times a year.
