The Lido Theater — Attraction in Newport Beach

I always loved The Lido Theatre ! I started going in the late 40's ! I saw Psycho in 1960 ! I love the way it looks ! The architecture is the same, but it has been re-done through the years ! In the same retro style. I went recently to see Bohemian Rhapsody ! A great movie ! If the movie hadn't been so great, I would have walked out ! It was really cold, as even the Cinemas are in the summers & winter's ! But the real problem was the old seats ! I was in the balcony, & the seats were so small & uncomfortable & no leg room ! I was sitting off to the side, moving so much trying to get comfortable, & my back was killing me ! Freezing too ! I can't ever go back ! A big guy working there, like the boss, he was scary, cause he had obvious mental problems ! He came to the balcony when we were leaving, & looked as if he was on the verge of a breakdown ! Had a great time when I went to see Crimes of Passion, Pat Benetar tribute & Double Vision, Foreigner tribute. Great stage & dancing/standing area, comfy seats, super friendly staff, decent prices for shows. HOWEVER, the price for beer and other things is outrageously high!! (hence, only three stars).

$10 bucks for a 12 oz cup of Bud Light?? $12 for small well cocktail. $4.50 for a small bag of (the worst tasting) popcorn (ever) (think they need to check the oil). We go out first and THEN go to LidoLive because it is so expensive. 3 beers (Bud Light!) 1 drink cost me $42 bucks!

My fiance and I hosted our engagement party here and it was such an incredible experience! The Lido team was super helpful during planning stages. We were able to bring our own food and decor in and they provided popcorn and soda for everyone! We were able to show a video clip that my fiancé made celebrating our relationship on the big screen as well as a throwback movie of our choice! We even got to customize a marquee message!
