I had an excellent experience.
I have never shopped or bought anything at Alo before, but am a frequent buyer of lululemon. I had no idea how the Alo sizing or fit worked, and I didn’t want to order online if I didn’t know if the athletic gear would flatter me.
This past Black Friday I was at Old orchard and I noticed they had an Alo store. Everything was 30% off for Black Friday (Lulu had no sales) so I thought I might give it a try.
I was WOWED. They have simple products and almost all their products are a solid color (very limited patterns, almost none.) The fit and quality of the gear blew me away!! I am so happy they opened an Alo store because I never would have ordered something online I couldn’t try on first.
I was concerned the items would only be catered towards really slender girls, but the items they have genuinely do flatter a range of body types.
The store seemed to have an overflow of jackets and coats however. The entire back section of the store was just those fuzzy/trendy teddy jackets and puffer coats. It seemed like half the store was just those oversized coats. I’m not a super fan of those because I live in Chicago not LA, so a coat like that won’t really work for the cold winters here. But the yoga gear was fantastic!
The tennis skirts are flattering, the bras and tops hug you and flatter you, and the leggings are OUT OF THE WORLD FLATTERING. The leggings are thick and stretchy and slimming and the absolute best leggings I have ever tried on.
I also like the sizing better than Lulu! I find the Canadian sizing of Lulu (2-12) confusing and find the XXS-2XL system of Alo so much better.
The store experience perhaps wasn’t as nice as Lulu. Lulu really has the store experience perfected with the atmosphere, sales people, fitting rooms, and the reusable bags they give you at purchase. Alo wasn’t quite on that caliber in terms of i shopping, but I didn’t really mind because the product was so good. The girls who worked there were super nice and helpful, and I also appreciated that the employees were a range of sizes (not just all young, size 2 girls). I found them super helpful and sweet!
The only issue is now I’m a big fan of this brand and my bank account isn’t going to like me spending even more money...
Read moreSome items are good, but others like the RIPSTOP 7” ON-SET SHORT that costs $78 per pair are terrible and started piling immediately. I purchased all 3 colors and every pair is piling like crazy and I take good care of my clothes. I brought this issue to ALO customer service and it was not a great experience, as if I was the problem. I’ve been purchasing Lululemon for years, ALO’s overall quality doesn’t come close to Lululemon’s. And my wife’s brand new pair of leggings the stitching popped along the waist. We’ll be sticking with Lululemon, don’t...
