Skokie Festival of Cultures — Local services in Niles Township

I was thinking of stopping by this year, but I looked at the list of countries and I'm shocked that Poland and Italy were not listed. That's ridiculous. If you know anything at all about the Chicago area, then you'd know that the largest amount of Poles in the world outside of Warsaw Poland, is Chicago. How do you not include Italians? Really? I won't begin to list the endless contributions by Italians to the Chicago area. I wouldn't have enough characters. We all know the Jewish contributions to Chicago and Skokie but are you telling me that Azerbaijanians have a bigger coalition in the area vs. Poles and Italians? This is an entertaining family event that showcases some of the restaurants and businesses in and around the Skokie area. There are activities and did vendors that allow your do sample food and drinks.

The focus of the event is to bring the diverse community together to discover our differences while enriching minds and ourselves. There is a great show on stage that displays some of the traditional dances of many countries.

What a cool event! I’m so glad I found it on Facebook, I live a bit farther south of Skokie but it was worth the trip. So many cool booths and so great to learn so much about so many places and cultures. More geared towards family with children but still good for adults especially for the food.
