First time here and we came to see AJR. Let's start with the good. The food was great, I had the chicken strips from the Golden roost and hubby had tacos from Plaza del Sol street tacos. I feel like food is always kinda pricey at events but the taste definitely made it worth it. We even got some dip n dots later and even though they were pricey they gave you a big hearty serving. The fact that the concert was inside helped keep us cool. No sweating until AJR got on stage and that was probably because of all the moving and people that we were around. Sound of the concert was great, we were near a drunk girl who kept screaming the tone not the lyrics and the sound was loud enough to somewhat drown her out. Now the bad..... NOT ENOUGH STAFF! Trying to figure out what the lady was trying to tell us before entering was difficult because she didn't have a megaphone let alone anyone outside watching the lines to help spread the info and keep the lines orderly. The one lady in the stadium that we showed our tickets to misdirected us to our chairs. And I just didn't feel safe with the amount of staff in the stadium, there was only like one or two near the entrance, and in these days where anything could happen it didn't really make me feel safe. Not enough standing tables to eat food at. We couldn't find anywhere to eat our food so we were utilizing the top of a recycling bin until we were told there was a patio with seats. We found the patio which was outside (so yay, back in the heat...) and there was only 2 tables and 4 benches, so we had to sit on luckily the last bench avaliable. Also this was the smoking area so I had to deal with the smell of smoke too. There were no directions on where to go (even when inside there are no directions or map of the arena) when we got there, so we did like everyone else and asked the staff at the closest downstairs door. When we were told they were lining upstairs at the entrance we were surprised there was no shade for anyone waiting in this heat wave. A temporary shade would've been lovely to have so I highly suggest the venue look into this. The bathrooms where small but at least somewhat clean. I feel lile there could be more stalls, and tbe toilets definitely need some updating. Lastly the seats, we thought we were going to have a good view but we were on the floor and behind tall people so it was really hard to see the band on their stage. Mostly our fault but I wish the seating would've been a little more clear that that area was all flat floor seats, so buyer beware, triple check your seats before buying. Would I come here again? More than likely if there was something I really wanted to see, but I would really hope they address at least the staffing issue before...

I try not to leave 1 star rating, but this place we visit to see the circles Ola and thsi place gave me the worst experience ever!! First, we go to concession to get a beer Modelo, big can only they had, so I didn't have a problem with that I ask was it cold and they said yes. When I received the beer it was cold 🥶 it was chilled and you know you need your beer to be coors.light blue mountain cold but it was not, and to top it off the beer costed $18 dollars. SMH! I had to go back and ask for a cup of ice, so yes, I had to drink my beer with ice! Then we proceeded to get food from 'Street toco', just horrible!! The food was pre made and the tocos with beans and salads they expected you to eat with no forks and the taco was soggy so you couldn't eat it without a fork due to them having pre made food and they was just add any additional you wanted to it.... So they didn't provide no utensils at ALL and the soda you received they do not provide you with no top which ended up getting kick over while we was at our sits and a lady passing by kicked it over and keep moving, didn't even offer to pay for it. Then, to top off my horrible experience here, the seating is SMALL! IM 6'3 240LBS and I was so uncomfortable. I had to put my legs over the seats that were in front of me to keep from cramping up!! There are other events being held here like Kat Williams that I was excited to go to, but now, after my experience here, I will not bother. We spent a lot of money to attend the event, and we left feeling like we were taking advantage of! We do not recommend you attend these events here because the customer service is horrible, chilled beer only, that taco stand needs to be removed, and the seats are not built for you to be comfortable! Just...

The view in the picture is from the back row of the balcony. Needless to say, there's not a bad seat in the house.

Parked in the reasonably priced parking deck underneath the arena. Traffic management was poor getting into the deck at the street level, though inside the deck was ok. Employee's there to help mitigate. Getting out was a jumbled mess but I suppose every parking deck is just as bad. Elevator took us right to the top floor of the arrangements from the deck. That was great especially since we were in the second floor down in the deck and accidentally parked right next to the elevator.

Concert was Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddess Master Quest. Performance was pretty good. As avid fans we know the music well and had seen the master quest version of the tour before. Some things showed that the house orchestra was not made up of marks for the game series but overall I would see them again.

Arena was reasonably temperatured. I tend to be warm and my lady tends to be cold. No matter the temperature this is always true. Both of us found it to be comfortable even with sweaters on. Something I was very grateful for.

Docking one star because the elevator is not in service after a show. For out of Townes who'd never been there before, like us, we had no clear indication at that point of how to find our parking deck since there are three around the arena not did we take in any extra landmarks since we knew we were parked next to the elevator. We found the car eventually but it was an inconvenience that should have been spared by either not allowing elevator use in the begining so patrons wouldn't be dependent on it, or allowing it's use after a show.

Overall, we would go back given the...

This building has become an iconic symbol for Norfolk. It's definitely showing its age at 52. This enclosed stadium hosts many different events from concerts to ice hockey games. The stadium seats are comfortable enough but not a lot of leg room in front. Signage for the outer upper sections are a little confusing, numbers are painted on the upper back walls. There are many different food vendors on site to pick from. I visited with a friend to see a touring comedian. The show itself was fine. Keep in mind you will still have to pay for parking. It's typically $10 for event parking. We were forced to park in the lower level, which is fine for me, but my friend has mobility issues. I didn't realize until after we parked that there was no elevator on the lower level. I was told by staff in the scope that there is one for the Chrysler Hall side, but it is only in service when they have an event. It forced my friend to climb a flight and a half to get out of the garage. Also, when we were leaving after the show, a woman fell down those same stairs minutes before us and was injured. That was my biggest fear for my friend. Luckily, a police officer and a medic came to check on her.

The MEAC Tournament is in full swing and Norfolk State’s Woman and Men Basketball Teams are in the running for a bid to play in the Big Dance! The NCAA is a great big carrot at the end of the tournament. The atmosphere is electric and the fellowship and mini reunions are in full effect. We have Professional Basketball history in this building. The Virginia Squires featuring Julius Erving made the Norfolk Scope the place to be between 1972-73. George Gervin starred here also! As a kid… you haven’t lived until you saw the Doc defy gravity or the Iceman finger roll from the free throw line! How about live concerts with George Benson and Minnie Ripperton in 1976…one of her last concerts before she passed away. Or James Brown the “Godfather of Soul” bringing the house to their feet. What about hearing Patti LaBelle singing from her dressing room to the stage! KC and Sunshine Band would have broken the internet if we had one back then! Those fond memories and many, many more!
