I have been living here in Union City, New Jersey for Ā the past three years and from my observationĀ I found at a particular super market that is kept clean very well, but their prices to be outrageous. This is a local supermarket for those that are unable to get to Walmart or Shoprite. Food Bazaar is the supermarket that everyone goes to because it is close in the area. Here are the following issues I also found at the store:
Cashiers need training in bagging groceries correctly. From time and again I have had to re bag the items I purchased by the exit. The cashiers bag items incorrectly where for example they place the food with bleach and cleaning products when I displayed I had more than one bag to use. Its as if they are rushing but even on slow days itās the same scenario.
There is a woman who walks around in the evenings with the mop (cleaner)Ā and she is very rude.Ā On several occasions I noticed She mops around the customers mostly near the check out line . I understand she is there to keep the store clean and to wipe up water especially if the weather is bad out due to rain or snow . The polite way is to say EXCUSE ME .
Managers are not helpful instead of resolving an issue they try to direct customers to the cashiers then to customer service desk.
After being falsely accused of taking a bottle, the cashier took it upon herself to charge for an extra item on my receipt. Before adding this other item she called the keyholder to do an adjustment on the transaction and for whatever reason their security magically appeared which I didnāt think anything of it. As a result I ended up returning back to the store to return every single item back because there was a discrepancy not only on the taxes on the receipt but also an item being charged. (first off I went in there with my grandkids and he has bottle that looks just like the one I was purchasing. I needed to get two replacement bottles for him and the nipples. The cashier charged me for 3 bottles instead of asking if the 1 bottle in my grandsons stroller belonged to food bazaar she took it upon her own actions and charged me i would have shown her that the bottle was not part of their inventory i showed the manager the bottle which it had a little hole and some apple juice in it the bottle was clearly used enough for them to see and understand the cashier was in wrong.
4.My MAIN ISSUE IS BEING FALSELY ACCUSED OF TAKING A BABY BOTTLE
MY ADVICE DONOT LEAVE UNTIL YOU HAVE CHECKED ALL YOUR ITEMS ON THE RECEIPT.
(VERY UNHAPPY VALUED CUSTOMER)

Ā Ā Ā Read moreNewer store to the area decided to try it out a few months ago. They get 5 stars for their produce department, meat department and variety of ethnic items they carry which make shopping here a big plus. I shop for all my fruits and vegetables here weekly and so far I have been very pleased with the prices and quality. I will mark off though that I had to buy my broccoli rabe elsewhere for Christmas, they don't hydrate it enough and it was wilty. However, I really think that is because that particular veggie is not a staple in their store honestly. The main reason I gave 4 stars in stead of 5 is I have tried the bakery two times now. The breads were very good however, I am 2 for 2 in very stale cakes. Everything looks so fresh and lovely with special wrappers around the cakes to keep them "fresh" but unfortunately my Christmas Eve choice of a chocolate ganache cake was so stale it fell apart when I cut through the ganache and it went straight in the garbage. Same thing happened when we had a get together earlier in December and that was a Tres Leches (three milk cake) and believe me for that to be "old" is tough, it is filled with moisture simply by what it is! Now luckily for me, I was trying their desserts so I have other choices on hand for my guests but I'm sorry I do feel you need to not sell things you HAVE TO KNOW are old and stale. I will still shop here for everything else I mentioned but their bakery is crossed...

I am utterly disappointed by the shady and manipulative practices I encountered at Foodbazaar during my recent visit. It is appalling how they exploit customers like me, especially those already struggling to make ends meet, by overcharging for basic necessities like reusable bags.
I share your sentiment that this reeks of nothing but corporate greed. It's outrageous that a simple bag, which costs a fraction of what they are charging, is being used as a tool to squeeze even more money out of the community they claim to serve.
I, too, make conscious choices to support small businesses and minimize waste by bringing my own bags. However, being coerced into purchasing an overpriced bag left a bitter taste in my mouth. It's not about the money but the principle of being taken advantage of by such unethical practices. Bag price March 1st $2 = to bag price March 22nd $5
It's high time for Foodbazaar to reassess their pricing policies and show genuine concern for their customers rather than prioritizing profits at the expense of...
