Bagel Co. — Restaurant in North Bergen

I hate having to do this, but I really need to edit my review from 5 stars down to 3 stars. I really, REALLY liked this place -- it was the kind of local bagel shop where the owner remembers you, it always smells great with the smell of freshly baked bagels & coffee, and you can get a pretty solid sandwich for under $10.

But something has changed with the bagel recipe, and the bagels are just not good anymore. Instead of having that crisp outer layer and fluffy, slightly chewy center, they now all have the consistency of crumbly, slightly stale bread. I'm not saying I just got a few stale bagels -- I'm saying that after repeated visits and chances, every bagel I've had there for the past several months has been made from different, inferior ingredients than they used to use.

I used to bring visitors to this place for breakfast after they stayed over, since it was such an iconic kind of NY/NJ bagel spot. But I can't take people here anymore because they'll think I don't know good food from bad. PLEASE change the recipe and ingredients back to what you were using when you opened -- I'm a local who really wants to support you guys and see you succeed. But you can't do it with an...

This place used to be good when they opened. Lately I avoid ordering here because I’m always disappointed. The girls have major attitude problems whenever I go in person. And every time I order online delivery, something is wrong. I used to live for the lox bagel with cream cheese and avocado. The last time I ordered it, it tasted so warm and off I couldn’t eat it to avoid getting sick. Today I ordered two sandwiches and a muffin. They upcharged me for the additional requests I had which is fine and expected. When my order arrived, a whole sandwich was missing. I called the store 8x and it went to voicemail each time. I literally can’t fathom how lazy and unprofessional this is. Especially because I paid for the missing food! The partial refund doesn’t cover the cost of the sandwich and the price adjustment and now there’s one less mouth to feed. Avoid ordering from here. Today will definitely be my last time coming to this establishment! The prices are reasonable and my food has always been tasty.. that's not the problem. However, just like the other reviews the customer service is really bad. The girls are not friendly at all.. today as I was waiting for my breakfast sandwich to be made, I noticed the girl was talking to a male coworker that just came inside the store and she had my cheese slice in her hand waving it around, up and down, by her shirt & down by her apron and also she let it touch the handle of the meat presser on the grill so I asked for a different slice of cheese (& rightfully so) but at first they didn't understand my request and I asked about five different times which was very frustrating. And they had a bad attitude about it....
