Decent size park in the middle of NKC with a little for everyone. I enjoy utilizing the walking path around the park, probably a mile or so in completion. There are tennis and raquetball courts, several playgrounds for young ones, and a few baseball fields as well. I may be missing some courts and equipment for activities that are available. There are a few large shelters equipped with picnic tables, grills and plenty of trash bins. We have used these for enjoyable family gatherings in the past. Easily and affordably rented or as a walk up use at your own risk as if there is a reservation you will be bumped out. The restroom facilities have generally been clean for a park area especially on the MO side. (hate to say it being a mo native, but KS just has the cleanest parks period, esp Lenexa) A bonus about this park's location: NKC has been working on bringing this once mostly industrialized area back to life with entertainment and dining options. There are many new places to eat nearby including a few breweries, a bar with KCs best pork tenderloin sammiches, grass fed beef burger hut, and a few BBQ joints. Sidenote: A few blocks from the park is a city bike rental station. NKC is probably the best place to bike in KC if you don't want to fight hills. We've enjoyed renting the bikes and riding thru...

Best park in the entire city! Two play areas, 1 mile fitness trail, two bathrooms, baseball fields, tennis courts, handball courts, area for soccer. tall mature trees, lots of picnic tables, covered. One big parking lot and then parking all around it, also doggy stations to clean up when the dog has a poo lol. just across the street is a smaller more open trail that is available for bicycles and possibly skateboards if I'm not mistaken. It has a small parking lot too. A few blocks away from the big play area in the park are two side by side fenced in dog parks with walking trails. Macken park is my favorite and the dog park is my dogs favorite. Staff and cops you may see are very friendly as well as everyone that walks or runs on the trail. Since the high school is just across the street there will be some teenagers there, usually playing soccer, at a picnic table pavillion area, or depending on the time and time of year at the tennis courts as the school uses their courts for practice and matches. :-) ...

Absolutely beautiful park. The main walking trail is semi-lit at nigh with some dark spots on the northern side of the trail The tennis courts have lights for nighttime playing. The main walking trail lacks shade coverage for most of the trail, so bring a hat or wear sunscreen. Ample parking in the main parking lot (though it gets crowded when there is an evening baseball game). There is parking along Howell Street and in front of the Parks and Rec building as well. Four stars because I wish the trail lighting was better at night.

1-mile asphalt walking trail with night lighting. Half-mile "wheeled" (bicycle/skateboard/rollerblade) asphalt trail Six tennis/pickleball courts with night lighting. Four racquetball courts. Three restrooms Two playgrounds (at the time, the small one near the Tennis Courts is closed due to COVID) Three baseball...

I love this park. Whether I'm with little ones or the teenagers. I like running the track at night. It's very well lit up and there's always people there. The track is a mile long which is perfect and also has workout stations. There are two playgrounds, baseball fields, tennis courts and handball. There are several picnic areas and convenient restrooms. There's always something going on there. They also have the Bird scooters now which I think are really cool. Definitely my favorite park to go to. I've been going to Macken Park since I was little girl. I'm glad my children have also been able to enjoy it.
