BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!---- We purchased (purchased, not financed; I have to make this differentiation) a sectional, console table, and recliner on June 26th, with the promise to receive our items via delivery within 3-6 weeks. Dennis, our salesman explained to us that it could take up to 6 weeks as a result of the pandemic (we have this in writing as well). Well it has been 8 weeks, and we still have no furniture. Although we have no furniture, that is not the reason for my one star review. The customer service here is the worst I have ever experienced in my life. After calling numerous times requesting an update, staff told us they would call us back, but never did, not even once. My husband called and spoke with Dennis, and he promised to call us back on the following Monday or Tuesday with an update. He stated that he would waive our delivery fees for the inconvenience and that if our furniture was not in, he would give us a loaner couch until it arrives (we just purchased a new home, and don't have any living room furniture). Well Mr. Dennis failed to call us back with any updates, because he was on his SCHEDULED VACATION (smh), so we decided to visit the store to get answers face to face.
Upon entering the store, a saleslady named Alli, without making eye contact, pointed us to the counter after we explained the reason for our visit. On our way to the counter, we heard her arguing with an African American customer. After the argument, Alli says "THEY always play the race card". I was shocked and offended (I too, am a black woman), but I minded my business because Susan and Skyla had already began helping us. During the time we were speaking to Skyla and Susan (who were decent, given the circumstances), Alli comes over to "help". My husband saw her pick up a calculator to calculate the number of weeks we had been waiting, so he said, " I can save you the trouble of calculating, its been 8 weeks, and I have the receipt to show that". Alli then throws the calculator down and shouts "I was trying to help you but now I'm not helping you with anything because you are very aggressive". My husband was definitely not aggressive, and every other employee there was able to confirm that. Based on this and what we witnessed upon entering the store, Alli clearly has an issue with African American people. I notified Alli that I would be giving these details to the owner once we spoke with him. I asked for a refund, but was told that, per the store policy, there are no refunds and I could only receive store credit, which is laughable at this point. So much more happened during this visit, but for the sake of not overextending an already lengthy review (and for the sake of my fingers), I will stop the story here.
I understand that these are tough times, and that businesses are in disarray and unable to operate like normal. I am a business owner myself; I GET IT. But the lack of basic customer service and the unfair treatment we have received at this particular location is unacceptable. If I treated my customers the way we were treated yesterday, then I would be out of business faster than I can say 'out of business'. We have been understanding, reasonable and BEYOND patient with this company to no avail. I am unsure of what to do at this point since I am unable to get a refund. I had walked through several other stores seeing NOTHING that I liked, but there were several items I liked here. We ordered an American- made couch on July 4th with a 6 week anticipated delivery. I waited about 8 weeks to call and check on it, but it had not come in and because of COVID at the factory, they couldn't tell us when it might be available, but January? Maybe. We decided instead to go with a foreign made product that was already scheduled to come on a crate just any time. Like several others who posted reviews, we had just moved in to a new house and had no couch. I've called several times to check status. All they can ever tell me is that "it should be here by now; check back in a couple weeks." It's almost been six months. Last time I called, a new girl said, "it looks like it should be here in December." Today is the 28th. I'm losing hope and faith in this business. I can ship packages to and from Australia and see where my package is EVERY STEP OF THE WAY, and I'm not a business trying to stay in business. I'm just an individual with access to shipping information like all of you have. How in the world can a business satisfy customer expectation if it cannot produce by January the product it sold to me in July? I have never posted a negative review for anything before, but I cannot recommend this business. Read moreI had the most wonderful experience with this business. My only son left to start his career in the Air Force. Once he reported to his base; he was allowed base housing. He needed a whole house of furniture but he also had to start his job on Thursday. We spoke and he seemed a bit overwhelmed with LIFE!!!! The job of a mother is never done, I took the reigns and stepped up. I searched the web for reviews being that I live 6 hours away in Mississippi and to my surprise I went with Cost Plus Furniture Warehouse in Jacksonville, AR. I saw the business opened at 9:00 a.m. so I called at about 9:06 a.m. and reached a VERY HELPFUL man by the name of Paul King. He expressed that the store was just opening and if he could get my name and number he would definitely return my call and return my call he did!!!!:) I expressed my urgent need of furniture for my son; Paul took it upon himself to go through the store and take pictures and text them for my approval. We worked through all of this and he made sure that by the time my son got of work at 5:00 p.m. there would be delivery guys there by 5:30 p.m.!!!! I just want to remind everyone this was not the next day this was the SAME DAY!!!! My son was elated at the professionalism shown by the delivery guys (sorry I didn't get their names); he wanted me to know this was an OUTSTANDING BUSINESS; HENCE THE REASON FOR MY 5 STARS!!!!! If you are in need of some GREAT furniture and SUPERB customer service there is no need to look any further; this is the furniture store!!!!!
