I just had the WORST experience at this location. I don't usually shop here, I was brought here as a recommendation from family to buy a rice machine. Unfortunately, the machine we bought came defected. I went back 6 days later to exchange or return and was greeted by a cashier that didn't even speak to me, she spoke OVER me to someone else. That man came over without saying a word - only speaking to the cashier in their language which I unfortunately didn't understand.. This guy then went to get a professionally DRESSED looking man who appeared to be the store manager. His name is Alba or Elba. Very rude and unprofessionally he continued to yell and sarcastically gesture with his hands as he said "no refund only credit because you use it" I explained to him calmly that it was used ONCE to cook rice but it did not work, it simply warmed up the rice. He then decided to yell at me (not to be sentimental but I'm also 8 months pregnant) and say "no I do nothin for you your final decision". Overall the outcome was fine but the unnecessary yelling at customers was so unprofessional. My elderly mother tried to explain to him about instead exchanging and he wouldn't hear a word, instead...he walked back and forth ignoring her Completely which pissed me off even more and I told her don't waste her time he's not even listening he was walking everywhere. I mentioned calling the police if he didn't lower his voice because nobody was yelling at him... Then and ONLY THEN did he decide to say "ok I only give you exchange. That's it" -- the yelling, the language barrier didn't help.. This store might have great qualities but customer service sure as hell isnt one of them. Their products must be okay however the I professionalism and disrespect I received today was too much for me to bare! Nobody should have to endure such nastiness of person who is meant to help and be a source for communication to issues and concerns. I was very disappointed and upset about this store and its treatment of its customers. If I could give no star I would. And I reported it to the police as well. Not only that I made sure to let the family that had recommended me here KNOW about the situation. Needless to say they have also dipped going there and we have begun to spread the word on such horrible "business" these people have done and how they conduct themselves...
Read moreRunning a bit early for Sunday service, I ran a few afternoon errands in the area. I saw a lot of unique establishments along this stretch of 22: coffee shops that had retained the design of refurbished fast food places, year round (not seasonal) Halloween stores, small grocery stores with nearly empty shelves. Almost everything I know or recognize has it's own unique character, purpose and distinction. I parked in an accommodating lot in an even more accommodating community. I'm not a smoker, but longed to have a reason to pause and take it all in. I recognized the Japanese character for "entrance" on a sign that led to the door. I immediately noticed all the renovations. I didn't have enough time to peruse the aisles. I noticed a very nice selection of bulk rice. More than any other distinction, they have a Japanese influence familiar enough to recognize yet unfamiliar enough to challenge everything I have come to know. It scared me in a way nothing ever has, a manner a haunted asylum attempts to create but lacks real experience. I'm intrigued and can't wait to give this establishment the time it takes to find everything...
Read moreI found a variety of curry roux, hard to find candy (mut bi for instance) and instant noodles here that cannot be found/aren't always in stock in any other Asian grocery that I've tried. I'm so glad I found this store!
Their produce selection is good; especially their carrots. They are bigger and taste better than the skinny ones you buy in a bag at any plain grocery. Prices on almost everything are better or the same as other stores, which is a plus. I wish they had more meat variety (I was looking for goat, lamb, etc.), but what they have seems very good and fresh, especially the seafood section which has live and fillet fish! The pork and chicken prices were on par with where I usually buy them. I am not sure if they have sales on the meat or not.
I didn't have any real trouble parking on a Sunday evening, though the lot did seem a bit full, I was able to find a spot right away. Checkout was easy and I didn't have to wait in line very long; I was only...
