Smetzer Kitchen & Appliance — Attraction in Norwalk

I first moved to Ohio about 10yrs ago. For my first house, used Smetzers for cabinets and all appliances. Throughout the years, I've always gone to them for an appliance here and there. For my new house, I needed a washer and dryer. After working with Kalen, he found that the perfect fit for my needs would be an all in one. I couldn't be happier.

Anytime I have a question, Kalen has been very patient with me and answered them for me. If he couldn't, he would research and find the answer for me.

Each time I've needed something, he asks questions to make sure it fits my needs, not just what is the most expensive. When I've gone to big box stores, they either don't know much or just tell me what I've already read online. No real world info. Which is very important for a large purchase.

Brad from their delivery team is also amazing. He has been there as long as I've been buying from Smetzers and is always friendly. It just shows that a small business that has someone that has been there for 10+ years is doing something right.

I purchased a washer and dryer from Smetzers. Unfortunately, they were unable to install the appliances as it turns out we needed a side vent on our dryer for our situation. When I called the next day to find out if they were able to acquire the side vent kit that would make it work, they said they couldn't find one anywhere, and had no ideas of how to help or suggestions as to what other options I might have.

Although they refunded the appliances, they refused to refund any of the install and removal fee, saying it was our responsibility to know the appliance would work in our house. I was told that the $249 delivery/install fee really wasn't even enough for the time they spent at out house. (Never mind that they did successfully deliver one of the 3 appliances, so it's not as if their trip was a total fail.) We were considering using them for our kitchen remodel, but after seeing how they handled a problem, scratched them off the list.

Unless you are absolutely positive you have very simple install and have the knowledge about appliances to judge this for yourself, you might want to...

I would give this place "0" stars if that was an option. I called Smetzer to repair my clothes dryer which wasn't generating any heat. The initial trip and parts for new heating elements was $436. That guy left without testing the dryer and it was still blowing cold air. The next trip cost me another $280 and that tech told me that it still wasn't really working right but it "sort-of works as long as you don't run it on high-heat." The dryer still doesn't generate any heat at all after these guys basically had me pay for a brand-new dryer. I still don't understand how it's even possible to pay someone over $700 to fix a dryer - yet it still doesn't work. And they're just "okay" leaving you hanging like that. Avoid these people like the plague. ...
