EDIT 2: they have deleted their response but don’t worry i have a screenshot!
EDIT: hey this response is so actually insane 🤠 i have never seen a business so……jaw droppingly inappropriate…
i have seen MKJ nails recommended by soooo many people in Hilliard, so i finally decided to go on Saturday. not a great experience…
now i do want to be completely honest, i’m also a licensed nail tech (who hates doing her own nails lol) so im sure i noticed a lot of small things that other people wouldn’t normally notice but the experience over all was awful…
first i walk in at 220, my appointment is with susan (randomly chosen by their online booking) at 230, and i walk in, no one acknowledged me for a solid few minutes. i saw the sign in sheet so i signed in, no biggie. there were 3 techs working at the time, all of them with clients. the girl in the front finally said welcome in and asked if i had an appointment i told her yes at 230 and that was all that was said….
i wondered to the corner and found the color swatch baskets and tried picking out some colors but i had an inspo pic i wanted to show to get some help picking out colors.
at 255 the girl who initially asked about my appointment finished with her client, and she immediately came over to me and said “did you pick your color yet?” again, i’m a nail tech too i COMPLETELY understand running behind i do it literally all of the time, however if im running over THAT far, i’m gonna go out of my way to make sure your appointment is great and we have a good time. the only words she said to me were “did you pick your color yet?” not a quick “so sorry im running behind” or anything. and when i showed her the inspo and told her i wasn’t sure which pink to pick for what i wanted, she seemed annoyed with me and quickly picked out a pink and had me go sit at her station……….that wasn’t cleaned from the previous client.
the service itself was eh. she didn’t talk to me once throughout the whole appointment, which is fine whatever. but the station she was using was clearly unsanitary and she actually tried using the clippers from the previous client on me! hello??!!!
i didn’t really like how they turned out, but i tipped and said thank you anyway because again i UNDERSTAND. i wasn’t going to give someone a hard time knowing the stuggle.
but today (5 days later) 5/10 of my nails have chipped big time (she also did not cap any edges that i saw when i was there) and i started noticing lifting on the edges of a couple where she flooded my cuticle. the shaping was…just not good. so i called and asked if i could get them fixed or something and the girl who answered was just again kind of short with me and very rude. after i agreed to come in today i started thinking about it more and i called back and told them i really just wasn’t comfortable coming back because of the overall experience, especially the sanitation issues. and the girl yelled at me and proceeded to tell me she was the one who did my nails (still don’t have a name btw this could be susan or not i don’t know she never introduced herself) and that she knows they’re good and she won’t give me any sort of refund and she kept going on and i eventually hung up i’ll be honest. it wasn’t worth the energy.
the sanitation issues are honestly the biggest concern, if that’s what’s done for manicures i can’t imagine the pedicures 🤮 save your money, go somewhere sanitary and...
Read moreThe last 2 times I’ve been there service has been good. First time was the best, second time was good, this time wasn’t at all. I’ve been messaging with MKJ for a while (like months) over a detailed design I wanted done on a gel manicure. They said it wouldn’t be a problem and quoted me a price. The design has intricate and detailed designs on 8 nails and I decided for the other two nails I wanted dots going down the nail, matching the colors or the other designs. They quoted me at 10 designed nails being $25 plus the cost of whatever manicure I chose. Ok, that’s fine. The designs are awful (not sure how to add a picture on here but I have pictures). The manicure is lumpy and not filed properly. I have short nails anyway but now they’re rough and jagged. I asked for my money back to get them fixed and they said they would give me the money back for the designs and then in the next sentence said they’d give me half the design money back due to the manicure and time spent. They also said that I “added two designs” and was originally quoted for 8 designs and she did 2 designs for free. I have the messages which say 10 nails for $25 at $2.50 a nail!
My service was rushed. I had inquired today about appointment. Not demanding today, just asking as I had a early day off at work. They said 6:30. I got there as they finished up some pedicures. I feel my service was very rushed - half way thru the service my manicurist said they were short staffed. I was serviced and out the door in under 45 minutes with embarrassing looking nails. Also, the designs on one hand were backwards. That part is my fault for not catching. I was watching the news as the techs talked back and forth to each other and a couple designs are very similar in color so I didn’t thoroughly check the design until after. But there’s no excuse for the sloppy job I received. Friends knew I was excited to have my nails done and when I showed them the completed designs and they cringed. I work in the service and beauty industry and feel the service as well as the communication after the fact is unprofessional and embarrassing. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
They have wonderful photos and reviews from other clients and I’m glad they received great service. For the money I paid tonight, my nails are...
Read moreThis is long but honestly I have to say it because this is so UNPROFESSIONAL and IRRESPONSIBLE.
Today I went to get my nails done and the first thing I asked when I got there was if it was possible to get my nails done without getting any gel because I’m allergic. I asked if dip powder required gel which the man who was helping me, said it didn’t. There was a girl also doing a pedicure and said in another language something to him, which he responded with “do you job, I’m working here”. I picked a color and he proceeded to start working on my nails. He did a COMPLETE DISASTER! The shape was completely wrong, I have nails that don’t match with each other, shorter or longer, I tried to pick between 6 colors and didn’t have any of them. I ended up picking a light pink and this man made my nails SOOOO THICK and the shape was very bad so I asked him to make them thinner which he stated that I would loose all the color if he did which shows that he doesn’t know what a sheer color is. I was okay with having no color as long as they didn’t look like I had play dough on my fingers. So he removed most of the color and he asked me if it was okay to finish them up like that, which is crazy because you could see parts with color and parts without it. I was not happy but sure, whatever. Then he proceeds TO APPLY GEL ON MY NAILS to finish them! I clearly mentioned multiple times that I’m allergic to it, he looked at me asked me, what I’m supposed to do? What should I use to set them up? Then he told me not tell anybody that he did my nails -soooo unprofessional- and that he was not gonna charge me. He got up and went to do somebody else’s nails. When I asked him if he was going to remove the product from my nail, he said that he didn’t have to remove anything because this was my natural nail. Seriously? I had to figure out the way to get the dip powder removed from my nails which literally destroyed them. This is not the first time I get my nails done, I OBVIOUSLY KNOW that this is not my natural nail.
I understand that people make mistakes but you don’t play with health. You can’t tell someone that they’re not gonna get gel when you obviously know that the process includes gel and they have told you they’re allergic.
DONT GO...
