I took three reusable bags in, full of books last Tuesday, March 26th. Signed the required form indicating I wanted any and all books back that they did not want to "buy" from me, that also indicated that I clearly understood that I had to accept whatever price they deemed "acceptable" and that I understood that items not picked up after a certain amount of time would be disposed of. Okay, fine. My daughter and I went to eat dinner since the cashier told us it would take 30 to 40 minutes to process everything. They called and left a message after about 20 minutes to tell me they were done and that my items were ready to be picked up. I called back right away and explained that we were just going in and that I'd be back to get my things before they closed. An hour later (about 830), I went back, only to find out that they did not have my books and bags and that due to a "miscommunication" my things had been thrown away, WITHOUT MY CONSENT! Most people, I'm sure, would not have reacted negatively, but this made me extremely upset. I take great care of any books I own (clearly since they bought 21 of them, for $7.70!) and had intended to donate the rest of the unwanted to a local library. Not only was my donation thrown away, along with three reusable tote bags that were in good condition, but I received the LAMEST apology from the young man who did it all! He acted like it was a burden for him to go back in the back to even LOOK for my items! Tell me honestly, why have the customer sign the form at all if NO ONE is going to read it??? Needless to say, I am NOT going back there ever again and have told everyone I know not to as well. Truly disappointed in a company that DISPOSES of books and bags that customers leave there in good faith! HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! Better to just donate whatever I have so that others can appreciate the books than have them thrown in a dirty dumpster!! Oh, I did get back TWO of my totes, covered in some foul oily substance that ruined them beyond any further use. I gave up waiting for him to find the other...
Read moreThe money they give for books is absolutely horrendous & disrespectful especially when you bring them expensive books in pristine condition. How can a store that does quite well be so greedy?? Wasn't Bookoff just begging for people to sell them books too?? Who's gonna do that when people spend a fortune on books, keep them in amazing condition only to be given almost nothing just so you can see that same book on the shelf selling anywhere from 15 to 25 dollars? I can see if the books aren't basically brand new popular and desirable yeah but if you know you can get a guaranteed 10 or more out of each book and I bring 70 of em and barely give me a dollar a piece? That's called robbery/theft & makes me rather donate the books than allow people to profit so much off the people who is basically keeping the place open and stocked with quality merchandise. Smh someday someone's gonna start a store like this and give people top dollar and Bookoff will cease to exist like their feelings for people who just want a fair price ,it's obvious overhead rent business expenses salary but I mean be real can't even buy a book at goodwill for less than 2...
Read moreI honestly like the environment of bookoff. The employees are all friendly & helpful, but the prices when they bought what I sold was a ripped off. I sold a specific nendoroid and pop attack on titan there before and now that I am selling the same nendoroid and pop attack on titan, they lowered it down. I tried to explain myself on why now they lessen their buy on the same items I sold to them before. They sell the nendoroid they bought from me for $80 dollars & now they bought the the same item I sold to them before for $37.50 (on the first time I sold it it was $40) I sold a book that I bought for $25 & they bought it from me for $1.50. It's unfair when they lowered it down. I feel like their reason is just an excuse. They’re so lucky that I need money & don’t want those items anymore which is why I accepted it. Overall, good environment (very organize), great employees, but the selling is the ripped off part. They buying it cheap, but selling it much higher. So this is a warning to the people who wants to sell at this place. Buying stuff here however,...
