Beer Lab Hawaii — Restaurant in Oʻahu

5/2024: At this point it is second nature to come here when celebrating anything or just hanging out with friends. They are in the process of overhauling their food menu. It seems like the menu has shrunk and there is a reduced emphasis on shareable plates. Hopefully this changes by the end of their revisions. Again, tons of crazy beer choices. Tried the Bernstein Bear, Omakase, Pahumoa, Lilikoi Lemon Bars, Yuzu Creamsicle IPA, Quellek, and Mililani Red. My favorite was probably the Yuzu Creamsicle. Always a good time here.

12/2023: Came back for more beer, but also food. We got their cheese pork cutlet, chili fries, tater tot nachos, and crispy lechon. Everything was delicious. It’s pretty crazy that almost the entire beer menu changed in the two weeks between my visits. Tried the Lab Lite, Schwarzbiernator, D-Fermentation, Confringo, Man’s West Friend, Kiwing Me Softly, and Ko’olauloa. Everything was at least pretty good, with my favorites being Confringo and Kiwing Me Softly. Service was good too. Once again, an excellent experience courtesy of Beer Lab.

11/2023: Beer Lab seriously never misses. I’ve been to their University location but it was my first time to The Hall. Very modern and cool on the inside. I had to stop by Pearlridge to pickup something at Macy's so I thought I would treat myself to something to eat. I noticed Beer Lab and saw that they had food from Sistahs and decided that's where I was stopping.

The location they have is where Applebees was located. To meet Covid requirements there is quite a bit of distance between tables. When you enter you check in at the bar and fill out a little contact form. One of the bartenders explains how to order. You order drinks at the bar but food is ordered online. It was all straightforward and easy.

I chose the Rye Chu for my beer. It was excellent. It was slightly sweet with a really nice flavor and good amount of alcohol.

I ordered the Wagyu Mushroom Cheeseburger from Sistahs and it was amazing! I got it on the Taro Roll and found it to be thick, juicy, and delicious. It came with a large serving of crinkle cut fries. I would definitely order it again but, on the other hand, the other menu items looked great, too. It going to be tough to choose next time because I really loved the burger.

I love the food and beer. I go there at least 1 time a month and when ever I have company I bring them there. But tonight it was a bad experience due to one of the staff called Mel. We were a party of 4 and we asked to not be but at a small table for. (They have tables for 3) We patiently waited for 35 mins and passed up the smaller tables twice. A kind gentleman came over to assure us the table would be turning over soon. Then 2 tables opens up at the same time. And Mel tried to sit us at the small table again. I ask her to not put us there but the other one that clears and she told me no. she was going to give it to people who came in after us and we’ll have to take that or they don’t have anything for us. I love the place but if you get Mel. Then when I tried to explain she asked me and my party to leave. She will smile to your face. But be careful. That is sad. I like that...
