Great fades, long wait times, poor customer service.
I've been coming here every 2 weeks for over 6 months, and after today, have decided to drive farther and pay marginally ($3) more for a better experience + hair wash.
If you like fades, the haircuts are good. Jenny and the man on the Ewa (far end) are the best. I like fades, so it works. Like the straight razor. Recommended the place to a friend who doesn't and was one and done.
Wait times are just okay. I usually wait 15-30 minutes, sometimes more. Not a huge deal for me, as I usually come by after work and can wrap up some things while waiting. They also offer appointments for $10 more. Never tried it, since being cheap is one of their biggest attributes.
The customer service has gotten better. Some people remember who I am now (though I haven't been consistent with anyone, trying to figure out who's the best - sometimes, seems like it depends on the day). They've had a check-in sheet for a couple of months, but still seems like their trying to figure out how to use it. And here's the problem:
I arrived today a little after opening and put my name down. I waited. I went outside to take a phone call for 5 minutes, watching for my turn. I walked back in and they greeted me again, like I had just walked in...weird. Kept waiting. 2 people who came in after me were seen...okay, maybe they had appointments. Tired of waiting, I changed the names of the people I wanted to see to anyone. Two more people were called and nothing!
It's busy, I didn't want to make a stink. Total waste of time - 45 minutes waiting! I drove to another place 5 minutes away, was seen in 5 minutes, and was done within 40 minutes - with a hair wash (which Jenny's doesn't do) for $3 more!
It's too bad. I wanted to like this and it's convenient, but found another great...

As a loyal customer of over a year I expected... more?
Before dropping into Jenny's, I gave the shop a call to make my usual bi-weekly appointment for a line up with Jenny; a routine I've kept for the past year or so. The stylist that answered the phone said that there would be no need and to walk right in. 3 hours later, I walk into the shop and see Jenny eating a cookie. Crumbs falling from her mouth she shrieks excuse after excuse, beginning one before the other ends that she:
Isn't working today/ Is on her way home/ Never answered the phone/ Never said she was cutting hair/
I wonder if her four other stylists or their customers found the sight of their boss dismissing a generous and consistent customer-- before saying hello even--as shocking as I did.
I show Jenny my call log. She has an intense exchange with a couple of stylists over who answered the phone. It all starts to feel like terrible SNL skit. Now realizing that I DID indeed call, Jenny offers to have me wait for someone else to cut my hair; as if the events described above didn't just occur to the backdrop of painstaking silence muffled Shazam commercials. Two hours wasted on a beautiful Sunday.
Seems like an awful lot for a simple lineup.
Although I won't be returning to Jenny, I'm taking the time to write this review of my years' long experience as a well-tipping and professional man of color. Do not invest your time in Jenny, she doesn't...
Read moreI came here to get my sons hair cut for the first time in 9yrs. His hair was extremely long. I received good service the first two times and really appreciated the two girls who served us.I tipped $20 tip each time. The third time for my sons cut a different person cut it along with my older son getting a cut. I tipped $10 each barber. The problem this time was i asked the barber to fix his cut 4 times and felt very embarrassed having to keep asking so I paid and left peacefully. Four days later I called explaining the problem and asked politely if they can fix it no charge, she said ok. I came in asked politely for help, 3 different barbers gave me attitude and told me to wait. I waited for 10 mins then a woman walked past mumbling something to me and walked to her chair. I asked if someone could please just see what I needed so I could explain why I'm here. They did not help the situation I told them I'm the customer who called about my sons cut but they replied you just have to wait. No care to help the customer. I payed $80 that day and my sons cuts is a mess. There should still be a standard of professionalism and curiosity even in a barber shop. Not doing business there again. Also their music each time has been nothing but fowl and sexual language in a public setting. Children go there all the time what standard are we setting in this generation. We over look these things just for a good cut? Really upset but better to take my business somewhere where they provide respect and genuine service. Thank you...
