I was in the Oakbrook store a few days ago and saw a chair (Arlo Recliner in Smoke Grey) in their outlet center. I called this evening at 5:30 pm when I got out of work to see if it was still available. Several people told me that they can't confirm inventory in the outlet center over the phone. So I took the 45 min ride to the store to go purchase it. I arrived at 6:15 pm, saw the chair and asked to purchase it. I was then told I could not take it with me because pick up hours closed at 6 pm. Mind you, I was not informed about this when I had called 45 minutes earlier. I was told "You can purchase it today, and pick it up tomorrow or another day". I told 3 people there, I get off work at 530 and it's a 45 min drive, on what day could I possibly come pick it up. The whole staff looked at me with blank faces. So, I said, "I'm here now to purchase the chair and will carry it out the front door myself". What's the issue, as I'm standing next to the outlet sign that says, "you can take it with you today!". They apologized and literally said, "I'm sorry, that you can't purchase this chair this evening, we can have it delivered for you, for a $70 charge." I asked ok, what are delivery hours? Response was M-F 9am to 4pm. My response, so if I work, M-F 8 am to 530 pm. How can I get my chair? I have not been this frustrated in a long time, I'm done with...
Read moreRude sales people! Was in the store over 20 mins, not one sales person would even acknowledge my existence or offer to help. A salesman in the outlet portion looked at me at least 3 times, saw me trying out chairs, sitting on couches, laying on a daybed - refused to even acknowledge me. Another sales lady, too busy fluffing pillows on a shelf. Another, head down, engrossed by her phone at the register. It takes very little to say "Hi, how are you today? I will check back with you in a minute after I get done helping these folks, finishing this task, etc.". Honestly felt they size up people & make a determination on whether you have $$ to justify their effort. The woman carrying a LV purse was greeted; woman decked out in Lululemon was greeted & helped; not me. My Kohls outfit & Target purse tagged me as a peasant apparently. Felt like Pretty Woman. Left the store and told the receptionist about the rudeness of their staff. She got defensive. It's a shame - was looking to furnish a whole house - big...
Read moreOutlet review: Husband and I are moving into our first home this month and we decided to invest in some Room and Board outlet pieces. We had a very positive experience at the store! The associates were friendly and very helpful. They have a TON of options in the outlet that were originally purchased furniture then returned, or were staged on display at a store. We were told that items sell fast and they are always getting new things shipped in. From a general observation, a lot of these items were in amazing condition (don't quote me on if they have damaged items- we just didn't see anything at the time). Eventually settled on a 101 inch Cade Sofa in Orla Putty. It is in EXCEPTIONAL condition, and for a great discount (Originally $2300, purchased for $1690 with tax/shipping). It is well worth it as we know these couches will last a lifetime. My husband and I cannot wait for it to be delivered into our new home! HIGHLY recommend checking out the outlet- we will be...
