I have severe scoliosis and have been waiting since 2006 to have a life again after being bedridden so many years because no one would listen to me here for 10 yrs. By the time we moved to California, I was 10 yrs too late for a simpler surgery.
Years ago we spent a fortune getting aTenperpedic Cloud adjustable split king. A few years ago, when we moved back and undid the mattress protectors, the bottoms of both mattresses were covered in mold. The remotes do not work very much so I've been stuck in the same position &am using a passion mattress, increasing my pain.
I decided that I had had enough, and stopped by Mathis Sleep, where I was grayed but GL. He went out of his way to help me! I told him all of my concerns, especially the mold issue from our last bed, and how I think that the tasting pad I use caused the bed foam to get streamed, causing the mild. After taking him all of my concerns, he had a few recommendations. I actually loved all 3, but I didn't want to get my favorite, but one that I knew my husband would like too! We ended up hating the Temperpedic after a few years because we'd sink and get pressure pain as we slept, yet it was hard to move around to get off certain areas! That's why I ended up choosing the Intellibed with the Temperpedic split king Smart adjustable bases for underneath! I tried it on my side with my new pillow that I bought 3 of, and I couldn't believe that I didn't hurt on my side, my shoulder and arm wetree not pinching, and when I went to sit up, I didn't feel the pain in my butt and hip that I usually do! GL was telling me how this was the bed that he bought after he fell and had to have surgery, and that it had really helped! For someone like me, I need to make sure that everything my body relies on won't cause more pain nor exacerbate any current issues! I've had so many medical problems, and last year I was hospitalized for 2.5 months and i almost died around a dozen times! I had to stay quarantined all of 2022. My husband has taken care of me and our son all these years that I was bedridden, so he deserves everything and that's why I wanted to find the best! I've hated that we couldn't sleep in the same bed after our mattresses had mold & he's been sleeping on a mattress on the floor.
That's why I am so happy that GL was there because he made it so simple to find something, and he was able to show me exactly what I needed, where I didn't get anything that went against anything that I had mentioned to him! Plus I wanted something that would last longer, so we didn't blow any more money! He knew so much about every mattress and pillow in there! This made my visit so much shorter, and when I'm in my scoliosis brace along south my walker, it really wears me out to go shopping for anything, but I was so tired of not being comfy in bed! We've been through so much and lost so much during this journey, so we deserve to finally have a good bed! We decided to get a complete king instead of the split king because we never liked being split up like that! We have been wanting to get a mattress and then get a bedroom set eventually for so many years, but my health prevented us from doing that along with so many other things we've had to wait on! Then he took the time to show my husband the next day, to make sure that he really liked it. So I am very impressed by GL. Plus he was just a very friendly, nice guy who was just nice to talk to! Having worked in sales before everything fell apart, so I know that some sales overtime can be overwhelming, and I am so thankful that GL was not like this! It was his thorough knowledge of all of the mattresses that really helped me make a faster decision! I am so thankful that he is who ended up helping me, allowing me to get out faster and go home to get off of my feet! That's what matters to me and he did an outstanding job! I truly appreciate the time he took with me and how he took what I said to find the best beds for us! Thank you! Extremely disappointed. My purchase arrived broken, not as shown on the floor in the store. They did agree to come replace the broken portion, which happened, but after the first night, we realized that there was no way this would work for us. Company "required" us to sleep on the horrible product for 30 days with a verbal statement of how the manager would want us to be happy and would work with us if the product didn't work. We continued to dislike the product for 30 days and called. We were told that we would be contacted within 24-48 hrs. This did not happen. I can't help but believe that this is the whole game...sell bad products, then avoid contact with the customer when they complain and hope they go away.
By the way, this is also on the Mathis Brothers main store/main company since that is where the manager apparently works.
I do not ever plan to shop here again. Not holding my breath that this will ever be worked out, I am assuming this was a lesson learned and total loss for us.

I am updating this review from a 1 star review to a 3 star review. We did hear from the manager, Robert. I would say, once Robert and I started corresponding (phone and text) he was able to help out enough that my wife and I now have a bed that is comfortable, and we even used our gift cards (part of the sale deal when making our original purchase) to get a headboard/footboard which was delivered and setup at our house.
Overall, here are some highlights and lowlights of our experience with Mathis.
Highlights: Once the manager (Robert) became involved, he was able to make common sense "exceptions to policy" where appropriate to help us resolve our situation. I felt he went out of his way to assist us. He gets 5 stars.
The delivery "system" seems to work better than most. I liked the frequent communication (at time of scheduling, then just before arrival, then they check in with you after delivery asking how everything went).
Lowlights: I take 50% of the blame here, but I let myself get sold into an item we had not come to the store to purchase. We came for a normal mattress and originally bought a "split king." One of our big issues, was the split king we received (which is basically just two XL twin mattresses) did not appear like the one in the store, there was a large gap inbetween the mattresses as opposed to the almost seemless one in the store. We knew after the first night that it wasn't going to work. Lessons learned...split kings are not for us (and I would almost never recommend them), and if you are being "sold something" you didn't come to buy, wait a night or two before making the decision.
Delivery minor items: Great scheduling, but...when it is raining outside, prepare the drivers that they will need to remove shoes once inside the house. Our first delivery had a broken part...that was bad, but they quickly scheduled a replacement, so that was good. Our last delivery (headboard/footboard) the drivers put it together wrong (running board upside down) and left some bolts out of the assembly (easily fixed myself, but if you don't have tools...take a good look at everything before they go!).
Communication: I honestly thing the reception folks need better training/empowerment to pass along issues to the manager earlier. We would have had a much better overall experience (and probably been on our new bed a month longer) if they were trained to understand that our situation was likely an exception to policy AND if they were empowered to pass this on to the manager earlier. Also, once the 30 days were up, there were communication issues initially which delayed the manager in contacting us and ultimately led to my first 1 star review.
I now feel like I would cautiously shop with Mathis again. If I had issues though, I would physically go to the store and track down the manager for resolution of...
   Read moreJuly 1, 2022 we purchased a Williams & Lawrence adjustable bed for thousands of dollars. My wife & I splurged on this big ticket item to improve our overall health. We received the bed a week or so later and my wife (155lbs) immediately had trouble getting comfortable. She gave it some time to âbreak it inâ. After all, we have a âA 1 Year Comfort Programâ.
Around Thanksgiving she complained of numbness in her hands/fingers. We deduced it was her side of the mattress causing irregular blood flow. I laid in her spot and was shocked. It was completely sagging, causing her not only poor blood flow, but it sagged so much she would roll to the left - toward the outside of the bed.
We went by the sleep center to discuss & seek next steps to rectify. Our sales person is no longer there so another sales person scribbled a number to call on a piece of paper and directed us to call.
December 1 I called and was directed to submit an online claim, submitting pictures. Specific pictures. Followed their instructions but upon submission they requested additional pictures; directing us to position broom handles and rulers to measure depth. Upon the final submission, they requested additional photos of the top of the mattress - I explained those were the pics originally submitted but submitted again.
Next, we receive a response indicating they are unable because of evidence of soil or stains on the mattress, they are unable to process our claim at this time. The manufacturers warranty requires mattresses be absent any stains or soiling.
The âsoilingâ they are referring to literally just appeared and we have no idea how or why as we keep it covered with a brand new mattress cover (purchased by sleep center!!) and it just appeared as we took the sheets off to wash, and to take the last set of photos they requested. The soiling was not there when we submitted original claim and is on the opposite side of the bed!
We wash our sheets regularly. We take care of our things. Itâs on my husbands side of the bed. He doesnât eat or drink in bed. All that aside, somehow something appeared on the OPPOSITE side of the mattress than the side weâre having issues with AFTER our original claim request and theyâve chosen to be combative and defensive instead of looking at ways to satisfy their customers.
Incredulous. Utterly ridiculous that we spent the amount of money we did and my wife is unable to sleep comfortably because of this defective mattress. A mattress that seems to have been ârefurbishedâ.
Bottom line, do not spend this amount of money at Mathis Sleep Center. They will argue with you and look for any opportunity to find a loophole to get out of satisfying their customers. It seems much easier to simply deliver top...
