Probably never coming here again. Manager was rude. The whole experience was kinda bizarre
I came here on Christmas day. I was fine with waiting awhile. But when we tried to order food after our drinks, our waiter told us we can't order food. Because theyre too busy. Ooookay then? So... we waited awhile for our server to come back so we could finally order our food even though we were already ready. Our food took an hour to get to our table after ordering. The waiter forgot several things, which is fine, it was Christmas, whatever. Me and my family order 1 regular meal, 1 meal from the "cubs" and the same meal to-go. It says $5.99 on the menu. Also it doesn't say "12 and under" it doesn't even say "Kids only menu" it says CUBS MENU which could really mean anything. Kid sized portions is what I assumed.. not kids only.
So instead of 5.99 each, we got charged double the price for EACH meal, even the to-go meal. (On the receipt, it shows 3 "volcano" meals, which was the cubs mini volcano meal. Im assuming they accidently input 3 meals instead of the only 2 we ordered so thats why 1 was voided) Our waiter did not tell us we would be charged double either! And yes the portions were the EXACT same. I could've ordered double the food for the same price.. on the normal menu. Barely any food for double the price!! We brought our concern to our waiter who said he would fix it for us. Well the manager (I assume) comes by after a few minutes and says the he will not change the price. Because it's for kids 12 and under.. So what he did was he changed the price from 5.99 to double because it wasn't a "kid" ordering. Reminder, it doesnt say that it's kids only on the menu. The manager wouldn't even change the price of the TOGO MEAL!!!!! hahaha Like how do you know who we're bringing the kids meal to?? FYI IT WAS MY SICK LITTLE BROTHER! If we hadn't placed the order in the resturaunt I can almost 100% guarantee we would NOT HAVE BEEN CHARGED DOUBLE. He didn't even apologize. He literally just kinda slapped the receipt back on the table after saying hes not gonna change the price and walked away... my entire family was STUNNED. what a great way to take money from unsuspecting customers! Maybe you should be a little more transparent on your menu. It's clear he did this just to make more money. What he could've done is just told us we can't order it at all instead of charging us double out of nowhere.
My dad's buddy used to manage this place, and man it was honestly better if I'm being honest. I'm sure I'm not the only person this situation has happened to. Oh and, the food was VERY average by the way. Wasnt hot either. iHop wouldve been a better choice and they dont discreetly charge you double if you order a smaller portion as an adult. Well, really wasn't a great start to our...
Read moreMy experience at Black Bear Diner last night was 5 star!! The BB Diner was running like a well oiled machine. Our server Camryn was very pleasant, helpful when making our selections, kept our drinks filled and kept checking back with us throughout our meal. I observed Camryn giving the same attention to all five of her tables and another server handling a large table of 25 people without any problems. When we ordered, I was skeptical that we would get our meal timely due to the number of orders before ours. The manager Frank came by the table and assured us that it would not take long and he was right! The kitchen turned out all the meals for the large party shortly after we ordered then our meal was served about 10 minutes later. The sweet potato fries were hot, crisp and delicious and the tri tip dip was flavorful. I dipped the sweet potato fries in a bacon ranch dressing (very good) but in my opinion they would have been even better sprinkled with cinnamon sugar or served with a honey mustard sauce. The tri tip dip is very tasty and quite filling, mostly from the hearty roll it is served on. There is not a lot of meat inside so I was glad I added the cheese, mushroom and onions for $1. Both Camryn and Frank checked back a few times to make sure we were enjoying our meal. You don't get this attentive service in some fine dining restaurants. This was our second time at the Black Bear Diner and we...

My family and I dined in here about two weeks ago and it didn't go well. To sum up: cold food, incorrect orders, bad chicken fried steak and taking 40 minutes to get dinner.
Went back here on 4/4/25 after speaking with the management who promised to make things right. And they did.
I love their pancakes. They are made with sweet cream and just soft, fluffy and delicious. They hands down beat Ihop.
My wife had a medium over easy egg. That's where the whites are cooked but the yolk is still runny and slightly set. Black Bear Diner nailed it and that's not an easy thing to do.
I had the all you can eat fish of friday and was pleasantly surprised by the very crunchy batter surrounding very soft perfectly cooked fish. The dish came with a very nice coleslaw and spot on hushpuppies. Along with this I ordered onion rings and they were equally crunchy and delicious. If I could nock anything it would be the lack of salt in the food. Easily remedied yourself but that would be the only thing I had an issue with.
The coffee is some of the better diner coffee I've had. Flavorful and smooth but not watered down or overly strong.
Lastly I love the atmosphere. It's a quieter place to go eat with your family. Not loud like Cracker Barrel and unlike Cracker Barrel, Black Bear offers booths which is very nice.
Well done Black Bear Diner, we will be...
