SAD TO REPORT: WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE. EVER. I HAVE PHOTOS OF EVERYTHING, BUT DO NOT SEE AN UPLOAD OPTION ON MY GOOGLE PHONE APP. I wanted to love it. At least like it. I even joined their Rewards program during their online booking process... THIS WAS INSTEAD A NIGHTMARE OF A STAY.
We were planning to stay 2 nights in a top-tier Executive King Suite while in OKC for an outpatient medical procedure. The smell was terrible (in hallways & room), the carpet was literally coming apart at seams, with dirt tracks & dried “pools” where liquid had been (dog pee???)There was a wet (again, pee???!!!) & dry “etched” spatter pattern on the flooring around the toilet. The shower was smaller than a phone booth & dingy. I weigh 118 pounds & could barely turn around in it without arms touching the sides, which I definitely did not want to do. Thank goodness we had a large package of travel wipes in the car & cleaning lady in the hall (who spoke great English UNTIL I tried to express cleanliness concerns) who nonetheless allowed me to take extra towels off her cart. I “carpeted” the bathroom floor with towels & still left shoes or flip flops on at all times. The faux leather vinyl coffee table was turn & a leg obvious glued back on with some sort of goopy caulking holding it together. The refrigerator was hot, as in not functioning although plugged in. A tacky bathtub with gold fixtures was practically at the foot of the bed & clashes with the cheap looking “cowboy” decor of old boot lamps & “tree bark” accents. No TV guide or onscreen menu. No premium channels that we could find. Except an HBO showing some sort of documentary that we were unfamiliar with & added to the overall depressing atmosphere. We slept On the less used-looking sofa bed...
WHY DIDN’T WE MAKE THE HOTEL FIX IT THEN & THERE you may ask. Well, it was late. We were exhausted from the road & stressed with the medical situation. We already knew there were no nearby vacancies. The hotel was packed. Families. Dogs. The front desk was a ghost town & phones unanswered. We had to be at the medical facility early & needed to make it work. Plus we were scared at what any other room options might look like...
Oh, in the hallway there was a maintenance closet that had the door open & a single washer & dryer were visible with a stack of soaking wet towels on the floor. (Machine broke?) That maintenance closet remained that way the entire night that I was back & forth to car for luggage, wipes etc. Ice machine was clear on the other end of floor. I had to cross lobby & front desk, but not anything I would complain about under normal circumstances...
We obviously cancelled the second night because we believe the likelihood of a post-op overnight stay would be at too great of risk for infection. After the procedure & clearance to be discharged, we simply drove. As far away as possible. As quickly as we could. It was a surreal experience, although part of it is shame on me for ignoring a red flag: The online reservation system has an artist rendering of a room & the words “Coming Soon” where an actual onsite photo should have been. I regret believing the 4.3 or whatever numerical rating was attached was an accurate indicator of what we would experience. So, please give this jnfo careful consideration before booking. I would think our room was an exception, except common areas, open staff only facilities & staffing were also subpar...
AGAIN, OUR WORST HOTEL...
Read moreWe checked into this room as an emergency as our pipe busted in our home. When making the reservation we were told there were 2 available rooms. One king and one double queen. We took the king as thats all we needed as 2 adults and a 2yo. They mentioned there being a jet tub in the reservation..we were happy because we our son loves a bath. We told them we had a 2yo and it was not mentioned the bath was in the middle of the bedroom. The tub was literally next to the bed. We couldn't keep our toddler away from it. Turning on the hot water and burning himself. We checked out 2 hours after arrival. We were not offered other rooms but met with a stoned young person like ehhhhh okay whatever. I Told him the reason we needed to go and he said ummm ok. I asked if there was a possibility for a refund and he said no as we were there for more than 1 hour. We were there for 2 trying to make it work. He gave me the managers card and said contact him the next day. I called with us stating we didn't know there was a tub in the room and it became a safety Hazzard for our son. We left after 2 hours and it was late. He informed me the tub was not a saftey Hazzard because it was not full when we checked in. Disregarding the fact that children have hands and can turn the hot water on. Then he stated we used the room for 2 hours and there is nothing he can do. He told us we should have asked for a new room. When checking out the kid at the desk was like uhhh okay. Have a good night. No other room was offered and we were unaware we could ask for a transfer. We paid around 150 for a room We used for 2 hours and attitude from the general manager of the hoter. I wasn't expecting a full refund or any at all, but being told our worries of an unsafe environment was not their fault as the tub had no water when we arrived was the definition of passing the blame. We knew the room was not safe so we left. Being told its not their fault as the tub didn't have water when we arrived was disgusting. As well being told we should have asked for another room. We didn't know that was an option and we were never offered a transfer. Just a kid that didn't want to be there saying... ok heres the managers card. The...
Read moreThis is a gorgeous hotel for a La Quinta. There's even a swimming pool. It's one of the best I've seen that's representative of a Marriott family hotel. However... In front of this hotel, where you turn in, sits 2 restaurants whose parking lots are clean, clear and dry, having been plowed and salted from the recent deep snow. The hotel however has remained untouched. Guests are slipping and sliding, trying to keep from falling as they make their way into and put of the hotel to their cars that are now stuck in the lot. I had to drive while my husband pushed to get our van out of the parking lot and maneuver the ice as we hydroplained out. Surely it would behoove the owners to ensure safety for their guests? When paying a full price, shouldn't guest expect a full service? Yet, signs clearly state that if you are staying more than one day...your room will only get limited service and cleaning. Their idea of covid response is....cram all guests into the same area so housekeeping only has to clean one cluster of rooms on one floor? I'm guessing. Always a pet friendly hotel, which is why we gave been Marriott members for years as we have ahow dogs and travel to dog shows. I can only guess at why a pets welcome hotel would not have a designated dog walk/potty area and offer poop bags so guest could clean up after themselves. Oddly some La Quintas do but not this one. Another perk is the complementary breakfast bar. At every one we've ever stayed at and that's a lot across many states, they offer pastries, toast, bagels, eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuits, gravy, a waffle bar, cereals and fruits. Nice right? Not this one. A few boxes of cereal and a fruit up and granola bar. There's not even a regular cream for coffee and it's not as though we are late. It's 7am! Surely they can't claim it's due to covid. That would be an weak excuse to charge regular prices for sub-par service when all restaurants are fully open and working including the 2 right in front of the hotel. I can find no reasoning for this pitiful offering. Gorgeous hotel with the worst service. Not the best representation of a La Quinta hotel much less the quality you'd expect from a...
