While planning a visit to the No OKC/Edmond area for a family wedding, we considered both the Holiday Inn and the Holiday Inn Express. I was told by the Holiday Inn that the main difference was that the Holiday Inn offered a full service restaurant and the Holiday Inn Express offered the free continental breakfast. However, if you were a Priority Club Member, there was no charge for the breakfast.
We selected Holiday Inn Quail Springs, reserving 2 rooms for us and recommending this hotel to another in our family. Upon arrival at 3:15, we were told no check-in until 4pm. They were still cleaning rooms. We explained we were on a time crunch, needing to change and get ready to be at a wedding by 5:30. So, we sat in the lobby (right next to the check-in desk!) with all the other guests, trying to corral a toddler that had been travelling in a car all day. At 4pm, I finally went over to inquire if our rooms were ready. "Oh yes". It certainly would have been nice if they could have simply called us over when they saw the rooms were ready, considering I had already explained our situation to them. That would be quality customer service.
Upon entering the room, we were greeted with the most unpleasant smell. Did not seem like a tobacco smell, but very strong. Not having time to go down to request another room, knowing some of our family was still waiting for their room until 4:20, we accepted the situation. Seems like we may have gotten used to the smell somewhat, but upon returning to the room after the wedding, the stench hit us again. One other family room had a slight hint of this smell, while the family on another floor did not. Upon reading the reviews, it seems as though another customer wrote on 7/2 about the same smell as well as seeing fans on wet carpet. Appears there is mildew or mold in some rooms a month after that posting.
The next morning, four of us went down for breakfast. It was set up in a buffet style, no waiters taking orders or refilling coffee, and no appearance of any place to pay for the meal. Three of our group had filled their plates and sat down. When I went to get my breakfast, I was approached by a young man who told me there weren't any "free" breakfasts on the weekend. What in the world generated this conversation! I explained that I had specifically discussed this with the check-in desk the day before and was told there would be no charge if I was a "Priority Club" member which I am. I was asked if I had a coupon. A coupon? Where was I supposed to get this coupon? Well, they would have given it to me when I checked in. That would be another quality service opportunity when checking in your guests. When you discuss the breakfast, duh!, I think I will give them a coupon! No one else in my group was approached for a coupon and we did not observe any other guests being required to have a coupon. The restaurant was NOT a full service restaurant. As I mentioned . . . no one taking food orders and no one filling our coffee.
The bathrooms were extremely small, the only counter space was small and set up with the bath/shower and toilet. You could not use the mirror and sink while someone was showering. The beds were not comfortable.
Someone is management needs to have a serious discussion with the front office desk and the restaurant area. It is not good to go out of your way to provoke the customers. They should at least show some effort to be accommodating and try to remove the mold/mildew. It stinks! I have no future plans to stay at a...
Read moreBrought an eight-year-old one-and-a-half-year-old myself and my husband for a two-night three-day stay, booked online through IHG offices. Was told I was getting a special rate and my card would be charged immediately for the total price of our stay with no options to change it afterwards. I was fine with that. Card was never charged, and when I entered Hotel I was told I had to owe $50 more for incidentals. I informed her I had just spoken IHG the day before and was told no incidentals or surprise charges would come up, that the card to be charged for that specific amount. The clerk was insistent that everybody should already know and it is plastered everywhere, we should expect there's going to be extra charges when he arrived at the hotel. I told her she could call IHG and take it up with them. She told me they lie and don't believe them. After all was said and done, she took the extra charges off and my card and I was charged for what I initially was told I would pay. We arrived in our room, it was filthy. Had to go to another room, floor was filthy but the rest of the room is clean. All the hotel rooms were so musty and so dank neither one of us could breathe and our children who have asthma were struggling. We had to all take allergy medicine and prop the door open and use baby powder on the floor to get rid of the smell. Didn't do any good at all. We complained but all the rooms smelled this way and all the floors were filthy. The staff try to do the best they could to help. We requested a crib. There's no cribs but they did bring us a pack and play, the pack and play however was nearly impossible to assemble even though we use one almost every day at home. And after almost 20 minutes of struggle we finally got it put together. We ended up with a crib size sheet and blanket but made do with what we brought with us. I will say the pool was great, they use salt water rather than chlorine so our problem skin children didn't have to struggle with red eyes and irritated skin. There was ample towels and the room was a good-sized, the bed was amazing. We brought a device to cast internet or TV from our phone to the television in the room but it would never load because the Internet was so spotty and kept disconnecting. The hotel itself in a great location close to lots of different restaurants. However there's lots of one-way streets in front of the hotel so you may have to drive several blocks or half a mile just to turn around and come back to a restaurant that's literally next door. Other than that I felt like the staff attempted to be as accommodating as possible but will probably not be returning to...
Read moreI was disappointed by our stay here. We booked 3 rooms for the night before my mother in law's surgery. We had 2 suites and a regular room. In our suite there were only 2 tissues in the box in the bathroom in our room with no extra boxes. There was no bedding for the fold out couch (the front desk fpumd us some sheets and blankets but no pillows, so my kids had to sleep without pillows). The bathroom door and bedroom door could not both open at the same time because they were too close together, and the TV in the bedroom did not work, although the one in the sitting area/living room did. There is also no overhead light in the bedroom so you must make your way to the lamp in the dark because the light switch does not control them. In the suite my mother in law shared with her twin sister, we tried to use the luggage cart which did not easily enter the room because of a marble threshold at the doorway. When I tried to pull it back out of the room to take it downstairs, the suite door slammed shut (not a slow or gentle close at all) on my back leaving me with a painful purple bruise on my back. The door did not latch shut in my brother in law's room and could only be locked from the inside by using the deadbolt, leaving hospital belongings vulnerable when he went to the vending machine. There also was no free continental breakfast like literally every other hotel we have ever been too. They only had a restaurant, but when our family went downstairs to order breakfast, we waited for nearly 10 minutes with no employee in sight. Because we were there for a surgery, we were on a tight schedule and could not wait all morning for service so we had to leave and go elsewhere for breakfast. To top it all off, we were overcharged for our room and had to wait on a $25 refund to correct their mistake.
On the positive side, the night clerk at the front desk was polite and had an extra key waiting for my husband who arrived payer with our children. He arrived at our room in only a couple of minutes after I called to tell him there was no bedding for the pull out couch and was apologetic about the lack of pillows. The rooms and bathrooms were also clean.
Overall I was quite disappointed. We booked this hotel specifically because we had a wonderful experience at Holiday Inn elsewhere, but we will not be...
