I've been coming to this gym for the last 15+ years and was really excited to see the updates with the latest remodel. Unfortunately, the "refresh" was incredibly disappointing. It really makes you wonder what they were actually thinking with every decision they made along the way.
This gym, despite being a 'smaller active' used to have more equipment than some of the super sports. The following are the latest updates with the new remodel that, if you're here to work out, make no sense to me:
went from 7 squat racks to 6; 5 of which used to be in front of mirrors to help guide your form, now not a single squat rack faces a mirror; they all face the group exercise class, so being forced to awkwardly watch people doing yoga while you squat instead of focusing on your own form -went from 4 bench presses to 3. -went from 2 leg press machines to 1 (the one they currently have is broken) -went from 2 fly machines to 1. -went from 3 leg extension machines down to 1 -went from 2 seated leg curl machines down to 1. -got rid of any sort of seated curl machine. -got rid of the hammer strength decline chest machine.
I'm no mathematician, but if getting an efficient workout in during busy times is your goal, less machines aren't the answer.
From a weight lifting stand point, the only improvement was an additional cable cross machine; they went from 3 previously to now 4.
I'm really sad if I'm being honest. This was my "home gym" for the last 15+ years. The type of gym where you'd see the same faces for ages with a real family feel. Walking through and trying to get a workout in with the latest "face lift" just doesn't make sense anymore. This gym could be great and I really hope that management and in turn, corporate (who I've been told made all these decisions), read this review and make some adjustments. The new floors and locker room are nice, as is the fresh coat of paint, but if you aren't functional as a gym first and foremost, it's not worth the trip.
I, as well as many others I've spoken to during the grand opening last Friday, will be working out at the other 24's...
Read moreThis review is strictly for Marysol, she teaches the silver sneakers and cycle class. I came in around 10:40 on a Friday to use one of the bicycles inside the class.I realized the silver sneaker class would start at 11. So I decided to lift weights until the class ended. I waited a little after 11. I went in and moved the bicycle to the corner of the room. Marysol came over immediately and was extremely rude. She told me I needed to leave because she was having a special event. She was referring to a potluck they were having. I explained I had been patiently waiting for the class to end. I assured her I wouldn't bother anyone. But she was adamant about me leaving.
I talked to a representative at the front desk. Crystal was able to help out and walked back to the room with me. Marysol approached me again and told me I needed to leave. I explained that I got the ok from one of the trainers. I reassured her that I would stay in a corner and keep to myself. Marysol preceeded to barricade the bicycle away from the class with chairs. As she walked away she pointed to me and started talking about me to one of her students. Then she announced over the microphone that she would have to end the potluck because of me. She pointed her finger over to where I was and made everyone turn. No one else seemed to mind me being there, except for Marysol. She made it a point to humiliate me infront of the people that had stayed for the potluck.
It's sad that she represents 24 hour fitness as an employee. I have been coming to this location for 15 years and have never experience such a horrid act. She needs to be held accountable for being completely unprofessional and acting in such a...
Read moreI’ve been going to this location for almost 34 years. On the plus side it’s close to my home and some of the people I began with are still working out with me, life long friends!
On the negative side, I’ve been through 3 (I think it could be more) remodels of the Chapman facility and they have yet to get the air conditioning to work properly. Many of us have talked with the managers. We are all told the same thing, they have no control over the temperature. The gym is hot, stuffy with no air circulation. There are no fans over all that new equipment they just put in, so the air never moves. Often I come in when the gym opens. The air conditioner doesn’t come on until 7:30-8:00 am. This situation is unique to this club. Other facilities I’ve attended do not have this problem. I know several members who have left because it’s just too hot to work out. I’m hoping someone from corporate will read this and fix the air conditioning and add fans above the next equipment. A girl can only hope.
Update to my review I received an auto reply email that directed me to the club manager who is aware of the situation. I would appreciate some one from corporate to contact me and/or to correct the situation. At a minimum lower...
