This is a small market. I have never been by in the summer but there are many, much larger markets around the Portland metro area. There is a lady who sells pork, chicken and beef and she was sold out of all but beef by 1 when they close at 2. There is a kombucha and chocolate vendor. His products are definately unique. We tried a flowery kombucha, a tumeric based one and a ginger based. If you think most kombucha is too vinegary or strong, his would fit your palate. The chocolate is high quality, made with raw honey and coconut oil and vegan. There are three wineries. I found all thier wine to be too sweet or to have a uric quality I didn't care for but I may be in the minority. One booth sells farmed mushrooms. Another sold breads and another sold pizza and pies. For food trucks, you have tamales and pesole at one booth as well as a crepe truck.
We purchased a chicken and mole tamale, which was spicy and delicious, a spinach and cheese tamale which used frozen spinach and I am not a fan of that, as well as a mytake mushroom tamale. We shared all three and tossed the last as it was mushroom powder...not actual mushrooms...mixed with the corn filling and then filled with canned carrots and canned, diced green beans. I can't stand the metal flavor of canned veggies so this was a hard pass. Each tamale is $6 but the are a good half pound each.
The obligatory veggie and sprout booths were there as well as one for simply made dog treats, calming salve and natural flea repelant. We purchased apple cinnamon, loose leaf tea and vanilla, loose leaf tea where they also sold drip coffee. The parking lot is open and large with many free spots right next to the market. Dogs and smoking are not allowed and the sign has fun with that saying "no smoking dogs allowed" at the bottom. Overall, this is a basic market without many choices but there are still...
Read moreBeautiful weather last Saturday on Memorial weekend Made a sprout out of bed like fresh produce and we jumped in our vehicle and sought out farmers market, We headed over to Canby and their market was charming but needs more time. Then we made our way over to the OC FM and although it took a little hunting, we found it with no issues and upon rolling up on this outstanding display of white canopies attractively arranged made things very exciting.
This is the best farmers market up and running having been to a few myself They are a real treat when they are set up and run properly and this one was outstanding with generous knowledgeable vendors, truly outstanding food offerings from seafood to ice cream It's all there including the little donut truck that had a line all day.
The garden man was four stars and learned quite a bit and walked away with a horseradish planting. We bought delicious cookies, outstanding strawberries from the Strawberry Queens who know everything about growing and raising these delectable treats.
The head of the market for us was the driftwood lady. A very charming lady who creates wonderful natural artistic pieces with driftwood and succulents. All these tiny strange plantings rooted into twisted pieces of driftwood was simply amazing and we walked off with a truly beautiful piece quite large I must admit.
I wish to express my things to everyone that puts on the OCFM because I'm going back as often as I can. It's a very well-run operation and the pricing for the merchandise they offer is extremely fair and generous, little if no gouging going on at all. I highly recommend And my wife sitting next to me gives it two thumbs up. Saturday mid morning until...
