This is truly worth the wait, hands down, no questions asked!!! I had to wait 85 minutes to go on the ride, but it was quite the reward. When it’s time for you to go on the Body Plunge, you must walk 209 stair steps up the Krakatau Volcano which is the marvelous symbol of Universal’s Volcano Bay ™️ Water Theme Park. The walk up was long, but it was smooth sailing!! However, at the last 20 steps, it gets super crowded with tourists getting onto the platform which opens beneath your feet, causing you to go into a 5-second free-fall. When I went onto the platform, I was super nervous, because I thought that it was going to be a roller coaster with only my body, since the warning sign mentions that the ride contains dramatic acceleration, sudden twists and turns as well as intense dropping. When I read that sign, I asked the man who opens the platform how long the ride will take and he said “It’s about 5-6 seconds long.” That’s when I learned that the body plunge is exclusively a free fall and not a water coaster, like the one in the same volcano is. When you step into the platform, you are instructed by the team member to plug your nose or cross your arms together and put your right foot in front of your left foot. Failure to do this will result in a serious injury or complete expulsion from the park, as the warning sign says. When you’ve successfully done that, the team member will count down from 3 to 1 and pull the lever, causing you to go on a 6-second free fall down Krakatau, in which the latter 3 of the 6 seconds are you flying through a slide into the swimming pool. You must remain in the right position for the entire free fall, until your body comes to a COMPLETE stop. I made the mistake of letting go of that position when I landed at the pool, so I had to swim my way to the end. Nonetheless, it’s a super thrilling ride, in which it will fell like your heart is in your throat! AWESOME...
Read moreTerrifying and awesome. The climb to the top is long, but once you get there you'll wait a little bit to get on, so you'll get a gorgeous birds eye view of not only the slides, River Village and Rainforest Village, but also all of international drive and the attractions. In the far distance I saw Mako at Seaworld, and even found the silhouettes of Spaceship Earth, Expedition Everest, Cinderella Castle, and the Hollywood Tower Hotel. And obviously up closer you can see the Orlando Eye and all the other sideshows in the I-drive area.
The slide itself is awesome in all senses of the word. Once the capsule closes, intense drumming music plays and the beat gets faster right before you drop. The trapdoor is so sudden that you don't have time to scream, and the fall is so, so long. I was laughing and glad to be in one piece when I looked up from the...
Read moreAlthough I was scared for days on end about the build up to this slide, I went to the park (with early park admission) and got straight on it (after the 200+ stairs), but it is worth it. The music plays and you drop, in the coolest free fall experience of my life, it was over very quickly and I found some places to breath (even though water is splashing constantly in your face), but wow after getting of that adrenaline shot is incredible, and the feeling of accomplishment is...
