This range and store is really a missed opportunity. The TLDR of this place is the physical range itself is pretty nice however it comes with some big catches that really make going here not worth it. Let me break it down for you.
First the pro's: -Nice range bays that are pretty decently kept -Attentive RSO's -The ability to rent multiple different guns so you have the ability to try different platforms before buying -Generally reasonable managers -The ability to purchase suppressors on site and use them at the range while you wait for the form 4 to clear
Now the Cons: -Most of the general staff here lack general knowledge and competence with firearms IE. My buddy was almost kicked off the range by an RSO because he though a pin and weld was an SBR even though with the pin and welded muzzle device the barrel length was over 16 inches. While he was freaking out about that someone next to us was shooting the ceiling and he did nothing about that. One of the check in staff for the range though that the 00 Buck I had was not buckshot because it said "9 pellet" on it. For context if you don't know 12ga 00 buck typically comes in 9 pellet where some defensive loads are 8 pellet. The shells were transparent and clearly were buckshot. Basically every time we come here we have one issue or another with either the range staff or the RSO despite following all the range rules. While I understand this location is frequented by clueless tourists for people who actually know what they are doing the range is extremely overbearing. I have too many examples of terrible interactions to post here. -The prices especially on ammo are an absolute scam. They have a "2 day flash sale" which is not really a sale its just the two days once in a blue moon they feel like selling ammo for what the regular gun stores are selling it for. If you have to go here to shoot buy your ammo before hand and unless they will price match for you I strongly suggest not buying a gun here either. The checkout process at the store is a nightmare that always takes forever no matter what you are buying likely due to the terrible Point of Sale software they use Some of the ranges are almost always closed even on busy weekends resulting in ridiculous wait times (2+ hours) for the range Over the years the selection of firearms available for purchase has not only declined in terms of options but also in quality -Tourists and incompetent shooters are rampant here. I've watched people walk around to the ranges with their finger on the trigger of rental rifles without anyone saying a word. Granted the rifles are chamber flagged its absurd to me the rifles are not in a case or transported by the staff to the bays. If I cant walk around with my personal firearm outside of a case rentals have no business outside of a case as well. Everyone should have to keep their firearms securely encased unless in the bay -There is no card or qualification to allow you to draw and shoot from a holster. This would be especially use full for people who are licensed law enforcement. Or for competition shooters like myself. This would also be useful for people who conceal carry to be able to practice the full motions of drawing and shooting. No this shouldn't be for everyone but if the rules of gun safety are followed Its safe especially on the ground floor ranges. You are not allowed to shoot your concealed carry handgun if you do not first take it off and have it unloaded in a case before walking in. The range is in a pretty bad area of Orlando and not allowing your customers to legally carry their handguns while carrying firearms into the store is a recipe for someone to get robbed for their guns. -They stock loads of gimmicky gear and not enough high quality accessories
Honestly unless its for the full auto rentals I don't think its ever worth...
Read moreStaff are rude, uneducated about their jobs and lack knowledge of gun laws. I have gone twice to this place. The 1st time I had gone, I filled out the waiver info and paid the $30 for 1 hour on the 100yd range. I had NFA guns so the staff demanded to see my Tax Stamps. Even though I had my paperwork with me, as always when moving NFA guns, I informed them that I'm not obligated to show my tax stamps to range staff due to the litigation of papers being legal tax documents which no-one has legal ground to demand access to except for IRS agents, ATF Agents, LE with a warrant, or a Court with court order. The reponse was to tell me it was store policy and that as an FFL, they are legally obligated to ensure all NFA guns on the grounds are legally registered for liabilty sake. Having worked for an FFL and SOT for many years, I knew that wasn't the case as I wasn't booking these guns into their inventory which would then require a copy of the Stamp be provided while in their possession. Their mere presence on the premises and in my posession does not demand checking papers. I asked if the same liability applied to my car and it's verification of being insured was applied while parked out in their parking lot? To which, I got a retort of that isn't even remotely the same thing. Realizing I was wasting time and energy, I showed my paperwork for my 11" barreled rifle. Afterwards the employee demanded to see my NFA paperwork for my other gun, a 20" barreled M16A2 clone???? So now I know they just hire people that hang out at the bus stops outside walmart here as they have no idea what they are looking at when dealing with NFA. THEN, they demanded I download all 4 30 round lancer magazines to check for steel cased ammo. The mags were see-through..... come on. They didn't even have a magnet on hand and had me wait with all 120rds spread across a counter to go find a magnet and ensure none of these shiny brass rounds were actually steel or that the rounds were steel core. For a gun range to carry policies that support the statist restrictions against americans is down right shameful. Add in the rude demeanor of the staff on my inital walk in really set the tone here. The range itself is nice though. That was trip number 1.
A few weeks later, I go in the morning to use the 100yd range. But now I'm charged $40 when last time I was charged $30? I asked why and the clerk said the extra $10 is for 1st time range use and to give you a membership card. I said this wasn't my 1st time and that I wasn't informed about a membership registration and that I wasn't wanting to register for mebership. The clerk told me they sometimes wave the fee if the card machine is broken so that must've been what had happened and that I could pick up my card at the end. Then same deal of having to wait around as these guys find a magnet to inspect my ammo before going to the range, which didn't have the nanny RSO so even more waiting. Mind you this place starts a timer when you rent a lane so they can get every penny from you if you go past your 1 hour of time. I couldn't have been on the lane for 40 minutes before the RSO is telling me I had 2 minutes left. I realized they actually took the time from when I left the gun counter and applied it towards my time on the lanes. So range trip #2 and I get charged more for less. At least they didn't ask for NFA paperwork when seeing a 20" rifle this time. Didn't bother getting the membership card that was waiting as I'll never go back here and recommend that people stay away until they fix...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. My group and I had what I can honestly say was one of the worst experiences from the moment we stepped into Shooting World Orlando. We came in excited and ready to enjoy our time, but it quickly turned into a stressful and frustrating experience that left a terrible taste in our mouths.
First off, we weren’t allowed to use our own ammo just because we were renting guns. That already felt unnecessarily restrictive based on there reason they gave us about of course safety but damaging the gun which they keep a credit/debit card in case for that. But things went downhill even faster after that. We specifically requested two lanes for our group — not just for convenience, but for comfort and space. Once we paid they told us we were going in for one lane but They still tried to charge us for both lanes individually, which felt dishonest and unfair they employed had to fix it wasting us time.
When it was my turn to shoot, I made a minor adjustment by briefly pointing the gun downward (to the ground, not anywhere unsafe) before resuming. One of the employees calmly corrected me, and I completely understood — no argument there. But then the supervisor, Gaby or Gabriela, abruptly told the employee I was “done shooting.” Just like that. No conversation, no chance to correct my behavior, nothing. I was stunned.
To make things worse, my husband — who I was sharing a lane with — went to switch out the firearm, and the employees gave him a hard time, insisting my friend that’s also renting their own lane and experience needed to be present as well. Meanwhile they did not hassle our friend when he came by themselves to exchange there handgun. Keep in mind, my husband has a broken leg from a motorcycle accident and was already struggling to move around. Yet “Gaby or Gabriela” showed no compassion and didn’t try to find a solution . As if that wasn’t enough, they then told me I had to leave the shooting area and just watch then after my husband tried to understand the situation he was told that I had to stay inside the range even though I was no longer allowed to shoot, just to stand there awkwardly and anxious, watching after being given opposite instructions.
The entire situation was made ten times worse by the supervisor, Gaby/Gabriela, who clearly had no interest in de-escalating or handling things professionally. While the instructor who corrected me initially was respectful as he has also given us some pointers in the past as we are still new shooters, he even admitted that everything that followed was just orders from the supervisor not the manager but the supervisor.
I completely understand that safety is the top priority at a shooting range — and it should be. But there are ways to educate and correct behavior without humiliating or punishing guests, especially those who are cooperative and open to feedback. This entire experience felt like a power trip, not a safety protocol.
What was supposed to be a fun outing celebration turned into a traumatizing, uncomfortable, and upsetting ordeal that none of us will ever forget — for all the wrong reasons. I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone, especially if you’re new to shooting or looking for a welcoming and professional environment while Gaby or Gabriela is still apart of the team save yourself the stress and find a range that treats guests with basic respect and...
