Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History — Attraction in Pacific Grove

My family enjoyed the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History! It is most impressive as one of the oldest of its kind in the United States. The museum staff were friendly and greeted us at the door. Admission prices were very reasonable. There are hands-on activities and programs for kids to do throughout the museum, which is great as you generally cannot touch items. My children drew birds, participated in a scavenger hunt, dug for fossils, and counted pollinators. They also have a small gift shop on site for the perfect souvenir. Don't want to spend money in the gift shop? No problem! Head out back to the dig pit and find yourself a fossil to take home! This place in our 2500 mile road trip was special. We got in for free for being veterans and a special deal they had in the summer so that was awesome.

The place is small and just outside of the tourist areas, but there is a beautiful park and a great Mexican resteraunt right next door.

My toddler totally loved it. As a Monterey county resident it was nice to learn about our community. I loved how everything is well organized. Every station had its own unique story. My son and I were there for about an hour. You might do two if you sit down and take your time reading every post. I think my son’s favorite part was the coloring and being able to see the live size taxidermy animals. My favorite part was the bird section and the upstairs. If you are visiting the area.
