This is a great location. Close to Cannery Row and Pacific Grove. Within walking distance to both. You can walk to CVS and a very nice grocery store if needed. You are across the street from the ocean and the views from the dining area are wonderful. The nightly wine and cheese are nice. If like me, you are not a wine person, there is mineral water and coke. The cheese and crackers are very nice. Breakfast is changing daily and is a hot breakfast. We were there 2 nights 3 days and breakfast included crepes, French toast, scrambled eggs topped with cheese, quiche, cereals, hot oatmeal, handmade granola, English muffins, toast, and more. My wife has dietary restrictions, and the chef was nice enough to make her an egg white scramble. The staff goes out of their way to make the guest stay pleasant. We had great interactions with all the staff we met. The room we stayed in was the Sandpiper room and was listed as ADA. The Green Gables has one handicap parking spot which we did not need but I wanted to point this out as parking could be difficult. The Inn sits on a hill. There is no ramp access to the main house and there is a button to get assistance with checking in. Unfortunately, handicapped would not be able to partake of the great views offered by the dining room atmosphere and I guess would have their breakfast and wine and cheese brought to the room. Our room was nice and quaint. The furnishings were outdated, and the bed was either really soft or the springs were worn. We woke with sore backs. The room does need a remodel, especially the bathroom. The plate behind the thermostat was falling off. The ceiling was uneven, and you could see patchwork and screws that had been painted over. The tile is old and dated. You could see where work had been done when replacing the sink. The tub is high and wide and was difficult to get into. Jacuzzi tubs are nice but when the bathroom is ADA, it should be easy to get into. There were many handrails. However, if you have a family member with mobility issues, this could be a problem. Transferring from a wheelchair may be easier. You just expect a better quality from this type of property. The place is undergoing remodel, so I hope I had a room that has not...
Read more5 star experience! We stayed in the Balacony Room (1) and couldn’t have loved it more! You are overlooking the ocean across the street and it is the most stunning view of Pacific Grove! The location is right next to a 18 mile trail called Monterey Bay Costail Trail and will take you through to Cannery Row and the Aquarium (12-15 minute walk) or you can take the trail the other way (towards Lovers Point) and continue on the path until it ends near the Beach at Spanish Bay for the most gorgeous coastal views! Typically I never like to spend time in a hotel room and yes technically this is a B&B but I found myself wanting to come back to this room and chilling with a glass of wine and just listening and watching the waves crashing onto the rocks, it was magical to me!
They do have an excellent breakfast and wine and cheese selection that I was also racing back for each evening! I couldn’t recommend this place enough!
Our room did have a separate bathroom across the hall and it was private (just for us) and I see people leaving reviews about it but it was in the details of the room and honestly it was a gorgeous and big bathroom and I actually liked that it wasn’t in the room because sometimes your partner can really stink it up, so I really appreciated that it was private and not in our room!
Anyway, I found it hard to leave this little slice of heaven and would highly recommend this as the perfect place to stay! The staff was also very helpful and kind! They wanted to make sure our stay was beyond expectations and it truly was!
We came the end of April/first days of May 2024. The sea otters had their pups and they sun bathed on the beach directly in front of the inn. Also we did see a whale twice from the view...
Read moreThis our second time staying here and the first since the renovation of the inn. So let's get started. We stayed in the Sandpiper again. This is listed as an ADA room. It is to an extent. The room is nice the renovations are nice. The bed is lower and the pillows and mattress are very comfortable. The bathroom did not get an upgrade. It still has the tall jet tub that may not work for some who have step up issues. There are hand rails for sitting and turning into the bath. Most rooms I have seen that have gone ADA have gone to walk in showers with a seat and some with assists. My daughter stayed in the room next to this one and it did have a walk in shower. Room amenities were nice as well. The fireplace and thermostat heat were nice. For ADA, there is still no access to the main house via ramp so mobility is needed. This is too bad as the views from the dining room are beautiful. Breakfast. Breakfast was wonderful every day and changed. From Mexican eggs and potatoes, to quiche and pancakes. Oatmeal, granola, baked breads, sourdough toast, wheat toast muffins, cereal, bagels, oat milk, milk, tea, just a bunch of yummy. If you have dietary restrictions like my wife, no worries, just talk to the staff. They made egg white scrambles for my wife. In the evening, the wine and cheese with salami and crackers was nice. If you are not a wine drinker, there are mineral waters, coke, and diet coke. These are also available all day. Staff. Amy, Lis, Carla, Lia...
