This review is for a new business in Pacific Grove. It's only been open for a few weeks and will ultimately brew its own beer, but for now they have a nice selection of beers from other breweries. This place has a walk up bar and a dozen tables. There are also tables on the front and back patios.

The bar food menu is adequate and the homemade pizza is excellent... If you can get it. The kitchen ran out of most everything when I was there, probably a good sign that everything is tasty but not so great for the patrons.

Ordering was sort of confusing, too. I walked in and had no idea if there was table service or if I had to order at the bar. I sat at a table and waited over 5 minutes for someone, anyone, to say hello and let me know the process but it didn't happen. After walking to the bar and finally getting someone's attention, I found out that all orders are taken at the bar. The drink and food menus are available next to the cash register, so it you don't know what's available, you either cause a delay for others waiting to order or go to the back of the (now long-ish) line.

Now that I know the drill, I'll be back to try the in-house brewed beers and have more of the really tasty pizza. I hope the management gets through the startup phase and works to make this a welcoming place for newbies and...

Finally open and it was worth the wait! We've been following this place on Instagram since April when we first walked by it in PG. At the time it seemed like they were suppose to open end of May early June but it seems things got held up so they finally opened today with the car week event in PG. it was a good time for them to open and was worth the wait! We were a little disappointed they didn't have their own beer on tap but that's coming soon, instead they had a bunch of different local beers on tap! The best part about the visit was the food! The pizza was delicious, we tried the margherita and the il diavolo, both were great! The place was crowded so finding a seat took some time and there is limited seating in the place but I imagine when there isn't a major even going on it won't be too difficult. The pizza came out pretty fast and the service was great! Best pizza we have had in the area, super thin Neapolitan style with super fluffy crusts! Definitely worth a stop, we will be back again when their beer is ready for serving! They also have super cool paintings and decor...

I was excited that PG had a brewery. I stopped by after dinner for a couple of beers. Will try to get back to try a couple more and a bit of the food.

The beer was excellent. I had a Saucy Otter and a Westie. I enjoyed the Westie, but I’m a bit burned out on IPAs. The Saucy Otter, however, was awesome. A solid nut brown ale that I would definitely recommend.

Oh, and service was great and everyone was friendly.

Addition: I did return. Had the Fairway Kölsch. Another winner.

Third visit: Yes, I went back again. Shared a pizza with my wife and had a flight to taste what I had missed in previous visits. The pizza was great. The Cannery Row IPA was fantastic and had had qualities that initially made me an IPA drinker. Worth a try if you want to step back to a time before IPAs were floral and citrusy. I’m back in Texas now, but I will return the next...

So excited for Hops and Fog to open and it didn’t disappoint. We visited on the second day of opening. A true test for any business. When we arrived they were at max capacity but still were able to quick provide us with beer and food. Everyone we spoke to was positive, happy, and seemed glad to be there. The art work was awesome! Amazing where you can inset some hops! Mike, the owner, was super nice and willing to spend time talking to us. We had the sandwich and the pizza. The sandwich was a tad salty but was delicious. It is a tapas size though, so don’t expect a full hoagie. The pizza is wood fired and really good. The beer is guest taps right now, but the guest taps are good. They expect to have about five house brewed beers in a couple of weeks. Excited to see Hops and Fog grow and mature!
