Palo Alto Event Center — Attraction in Palo Alto

Kind of a hidden gem in Palo Alto, though need to be a member or guest of a member to get in. They have a decent sized gym inside with all kinds of exercise machines and weights. They have three nice racquetball/handball courts. They have a nice billiards room with shuffleboard too. They have a nice sized pool and outdoor hot tub, as well as a sauna and steam room inside. The bar is nice with good beer options although not a huge variety on draft at least. Bartenders are friendly and attentive. Some nice, large rooms are available to rent out for large parties or other occasions.

Previously, I'd said the food was just average and a drawback. Have to admit now that was an inaccurate assessment based on having a few fairly standard "burger and fries" or chicken sandwich meals out by the pool. They were okay, mind you, just not great. Perhaps the food had been sitting out a tad long because it was busy summer period. But I've had several more meals since then and now have to admit I was premature and simply wrong. I and a friend have had various burgers, sandwiches and appetizers in the bar and they have all been frankly delicious. Fresh, hot, and tasty! No complaints whatsoever there. This Elks is probably the nicest one in the country! The old one was leveled just a few years ago. New structure, facilities, pool, outdoor restaurant etc are just amazing. A little oasis in the middle of busy and noisy peninsula. Awesome place for an early swim before work or a relaxing afternoon with the kids on weekends. The event center is perfect for any type of special event (work, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, etc…). The pool is heated using a large array of solar panels. Staff at the bar is friendly. Note that the menu at the bar is great during the summer but very limited the rest...

DO NOT BOOK AN IMPORTANT EVENT THROUGH PAEC

We’ve been waiting over four weeks just to receive basic pricing information for our event. The team appears to be severely understaffed and unresponsive. Our main contact, Iveth, was very pleasant when we met her — eager to host our event and promising a proposal that never came.

Since then, she’s completely stopped responding, and in the meantime we lost out on other great venues while waiting for details that were never delivered.

What a waste of time touring a facility that can’t follow through on its promises. If your event matters,...
